Aww man, The botched Jesus painting lady in Spain died.. so I made a piece as a tribute to her and I’m wishing everyone a happy 2026. New stories on Substack in Patreon 🫶 and wow lots of music on the way 👀 bring it on, love you guys -bm
Hey friends, 👋🏼 I have started a Substack! As my Patreon Community knows, outside of tunes and visual art, I love to write stories. Deep dives on both known and obscure artists, opinion pieces, chapters about my own life and a mix of other wordy outputs are something that keeps my creativity chugging and makes me happy. My Patreon page will continue to host all my work, art, music, personal thoughts and otherwise... and going forward for those who enjoy a Substack read and occasional podcast you can follow me at link in bio Xx,BM
“Mural for Tony Fitzpatrick”
yesterday I was scrolling and saw a post by @thejoepug saying that TF had passed away. Absolutely brutal..It’s remarkable how one human being can change your entire journey. Tony selflessly took me into his home, into his heart and really gave a damn when not very many people did. He donated his artwork to my band for our debut record (that frankly I wasn’t sure would ever see the light of day) called “Rise Ye Sunken Ships”.. I was a scruffy guy who blew in from NYC a little lost and scared, and he took me in and had my back. He also gave me the greatest advice I’ve ever been given.. “Billy the streets of the world are lined with talent that didn’t go anywhere, do not be them.” Over the years he would check in and make sure I was keeping my end of the bargain. I started working on this last night through a lot of tears, and wrapped it up today at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. It’s my imagined mural for Tony Fitzpatrick, just thank you, you changed my entire journey Tony, there aren’t enough ways to say thank you. >bm

Formed in Brooklyn in 2010, Augustines quickly earned a reputation for their emotionally charged indie rock and cathartic live performances. Fronted by singer-songwriter William McCarthy alongside multi-instrumentalist Eric Sanderson and drummer Rob Allen, the band rose from personal tragedy to create music that was both raw and uplifting. Their debut album, Rise Ye Sunken Ships (2011), transformed grief and loss into songs of resilience, while their self-titled follow-up Augustines (2014) and This Is Your Life (2015) radiated hope through soaring anthems and heartfelt lyricism. Beyond their records, Augustines became legendary for the intensity of their concerts. Known to step off the stage and perform among the audience, they created an atmosphere of unity that turned each show into a communal experience.
Augustines performed on Dutch television show "2 Meter Sessies" on April 2, 2014.
