Such an amazing weekend with family and friends celebrating the inauguration of @williamftate4 as President of Rutgers University. From Friday on the Newark campus to Saturday in New Brunswick for the football game, it was truly a special time. So thankful to everyone who worked tirelessly to make this a memorable occasion. #rutgers ❤️
Rutgers University President William Tate sat with me before his inauguration today. He’s formerly the President of Louisiana State University. He was able to shed light on what life l in the Deep South was like for the SEC’s first African American University President.
He enjoyed the success of former @lsu Athletic director Scott Woodward, & has excellent insight into new AD Verge Ausberry. There’s a certain harmony needed for any athletic department to succeed. Which is the exact alignment needed from politicians, board members & University executives.
The switch in office from John Bel Edwards to Jeff Landry changed the landscape of that alignment, & eventually led to President Tate’s departure. He found a place to apply his trade & earn his worth at @rutgersu He plans to continue his family’s legacy of fair educators who see everyone who aimed to serve all people… no matter the color, gender, or economic standing.
