my debut novel, Sunstruck, publishes tomorrow. it’s a book about looking for love, about finding it in the wrong places, about power and desire and friendship and racism and money. it is about trying to fit the pieces of yourself back together so that somebody might be able to love what you’ve repaired. i hope you like it
the thing i love most about reading is the moment when you discover, suddenly, that someone else, somewhere has had the same feeling as you, has been able to digest it and describe it and write it down and for a brief moment, through the page, you find that you are not alone. i hope this book manages to do that in some way for you
i’ve written a little more about it on substack, you can find the link on my page if you’d like to read it ☀️
SUNSTRUCK is out two weeks from today
It’s been a long time in the making and I’m so ready for it to be out in the world. It’s a book about love and power, desire and belonging, born out of a feeling of displacement and otherness. I can’t wait for you to read it.
Massive thanks to my editor @lindazmoh , the whole the team at @merkybooks and my agent, Kat, at @lexingtonliterary for taking a chance on me and all your hard work so far.
If you haven’t already, you can order a copy via the link in my bio. And please join me on the 16th of May to celebrate the book’s release, tickets available at @second.generation__
One month of Sunstruck summer 🙏🏽🌞
I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the love, support, and sunshine this past month has brought. Thank you to every reader who’s picked up the book, every bookseller who’s championed it, and to my brilliant team who helped bring Sunstruck to life. Your messages, posts, and kind words have meant the world — I’m feeling deeply lucky and incredibly seen.
As London swelters through a heatwave, it feels oddly right — like the city’s in on it too.
Here’s to the next chapter of Sunstruck summer. The days are long. The light’s still strange. And we’re just getting started. 🌞❤️🔥

SUNSTRUCK SUMMER PART TWO LETS GO ☀️
What does it mean to write from the margins? What words remain there?
Join us for an evening of food, readings and conversation exploring margins in two senses: the social and the textual. Writing from positions often excluded or overlooked, and the traces left at the edges of a page: notes, fragments, marginalia.
With readings from Peter Scalpello, Prishita Maheshwari-Aplin and Fopé Ajanaku.
Tickets in bio.
Beginnings was an evening of work in progress, candlelight, half-finished ideas, and people paying close attention to one another.
Join us on Wednesday 20th May for the next chapter.
Tickets for the next two COMMONPLACE gatherings, Margins and Attention, are now live.
Link in bio.

I’m one year sober today. I am so grateful to all of the wonderful people who have helped me along this journey. And to the woman who hit me with her car yesterday for not killing me.
Here’s a meme dump and a new substack essay to say thank you. Read it if you want to, share it if you like it, but please please please tell a friend you love them. Besos x
