As an assistant sound editor, much of my work involves managing files and tracking down missing ones for editors and mixers. Normally, I ask the editor to send a “missing file” session, they remove the online files, and I can easily copy, relink, and send everything back. But when there are a lot of online files, this process can take a while...
To speed things up, I’ve been learning keyboard macros and created one that lets me input a file list, search directory, and destination folder. It automatically finds and copies the files, and if anything’s missing, it generates a list I can send back.
Pretty handy, right?
