Would like to get some success out of this Jarre à la Corde technique of making large pottery, this first forms curve was too exaggerated and I didn’t have enough space to pull the wooden ribs out after the clay was added. I am also interesting in creating sculptural forms with this method, I’ll post more on this soon.

Paper kiln from a couple summers ago that Cameryn Mattie and I collaborated on for Antigonight Art After Dark Festival. All the vessels were wrapped in different natural materials, which when fired produced various colours and marks on the ceramics.
I am thinking of doing a similar style firing for a large project I’m working on but instead of in a kiln it would be in a large pit in the ground. More on that at some point.

Building the armature was definitely the quickest part of the process so far. It has held the weight surprisingly well, I was getting worried something would break. The hands were added later on using malleable aluminum rod.

I made this cratered, textured glaze in order to promote the growth of ocean flora on some of my ceramic work. Testing will begin soon. #ceramics #glaze #ocean
A portrait study of David Lynch I did shortly after he passed. I was orginally introduced to him from his YouTube build series, the video in particular was of him working on a wooden sink/ urinal in his studio. Ever since then I’ve loved his work and want a sink/ urinal in my future studio. Time duration was around 3hrs 30 mins. #sculpting #clay #face
Had to build a beefy sculpture jig/armature base for a large figure I’m working on. I’m pleased with how this and the internal armature took the weight, I was getting a little worried so I added a brace under the shoulder before starting the plaster cast. I plan to build an extension that will bolt on, which will be used to mount the final sculpture and for making larger scale works. #metalwork #armature #figurativesculpture
