This segment of Steph riding a Dave Parmenter surfboard is etched in my mind as some of the most flawless surfing I’ve ever witnessed. The board, the wave, and the surfer all move in complete unison. The way Steph positions her body through her bottom turn is so precise it almost mirrors itself making it perfectly loopable.
It's amazing how when you simplify an image to just the leading lines of a surfer you can still understand exactly who it is.
Two digital drawings I did while staying at @amysumatra last year.
The top one is inspired by a magical session I had up the coast while in Krui. The long, uncomfortable scooter ride made me dream about how good a Suzuki Carry truck would be for the drive. I imagined a mini truck with a camping setup on the back, and how ideal one would be for that coastline. So I drew my imagined dream vehicle into my unforgettable surf session.
The bottom drawing is inspired by the setting where I created the first image. In between surfs, I found myself sitting on the deck and drawing in my downtime. Hanging with Jethro the doggo and watching the waves out front. I saw many of my favourite birds on this trip, including the kingfisher, so I added a few in.
I focused on cross-hatching techniques to create shadows as well as textures.

This board is so reliable, I've taken it everywhere. The best boards are dinted and dinged.
