Last night I hosted a private screening of my documentary—a project I dreamt of completing over a decade ago, when I realized how important it is for the story of Atlanta to be told by one of its own. The doc features interviews by Killer Mike, Greg Street, Attorney Gerald Griggs, author Kimberly Jones, and many more community advocates and stakeholders.
The film explores how Atlanta became a Black Mecca, and how gentrification now threatens to bring such a beautiful legacy to an end.
After years of researching, and over a year of filming, editing, and polishing—countless hours—it was incredible to see my first executive production become a reality. I’m deeply grateful for everyone involved and all those as who showed up, listened, and shared their reflections. The energy in the building was amazing.
