the sun still had a lot left to say to the clouds after it set🌤️

Scavenger
The mixture of clouds and fog this day gave the atmosphere an eerie, almost purple glow. I wasn’t able to get any of the dramatic sunset shots I’d hoped to, but we came across this scene of a coyote hunting for an evening snack. A happy surprise 🐺

Morning Glow
Sunrise is always a special time to be awake no matter where you are. There’s something about the way its piercing morning glow reflects off of snowy peaks, though, that makes me feel like I’m absorbing energy directly from the sun like a battery.
Walking into class, I wish I had some of that sun juice right about now.

Open Space
Last week, in an attempt to take advantage of some unexpected free time, I found myself driving up to Laramie quite a bit before my classes started back up. I had never really explored the surrounding area before except for passing through. Unsurprisingly, I found some sights in those massive expanses of open space that made my eyes very happy. I’d like to make some more trips up there this winter, but in the meantime here are a few shots I liked from that adventure. Wish I could’ve captured the entire lot of pronghorn I saw in the last pics, but I’ll settle for what I got! For now…

Frigid Sunrise
Just a few shots of Longs, Meeker, and Mt Lady Washington from Twin Sisters last week at sunrise. When we started the hike I think it was -1, which honestly wasn’t bad until it started getting windy. Unfortunately I twisted my ankle pretty bad a couple days before this so we only got halfway up… I was being a baby…
I got a fortune cookie a few days ago that read, “time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have and only you can determine how it will be spent.”
I’ve been thinking about this shot, and something about that fortune helped settle it. You can see the motion blur from our train in the foreground, and I’ve slowly grown to think of it as part of the story within this scene rather than the mistake it really was. Cheers to a 2024 full of time well spent, and not stressing too much over the details
Another favorite of mine this year in the cloudy fjords of Norway. The colorful houses within the many villages scattered in the waterways and surrounded by sweeping mountains was pretty magical for me
Hazy pink morning on the road where I stopped to make some tea early this year. it was very peaceful and relaxing. I wonder what the people at the ranch down below were up to… Happy holidays ❄️🌨️🎄
