I’ve been very quiet on here for a while, busy working on new ideas! These, and lots more, will be coming to @firedcornwall with me next Sunday 17th May, 10am -4pm @tregennacastle St Ives. I have been making jewellery for many years, but recently started designing and making ceramic earrings, as well as throwing and handbuilding. I started throwing with terracotta in October 2024 at Tresabenn Studio, just outside of Penzance. I’m drawn to it’s earthy tones paired with the use of slips to create paper resist scenes often inspired by the Cornish landscape. I’ve mentioned before that I’m not great at adding personal information here, but am trying to get better at it! Almost exactly a year ago, I threw my first ‘pot’ on a wheel. It wasn’t good, but concentrating on trying to keep that clay on the wheel, and so not being able to think about anything else going on, was, life changing(or mindset changing at least). From that first time, I was hooked. It felt like forever since I had to try hard at something. It may have come easier to me than some, but I’ve also worked hard at it. I could never have imagined, this time last year, that I would be this hooked on ceramics. Nor would I have believed that a year on, some of my pieces would be available to buy in an actual shop! I am incredibly happy to share that some of my pieces are now available to purchase in The Museum of Cornish Life, next to some other amazing local makers. If you are in the Helston area pop in.
