This is what we're working toward. We're rebuilding the natural connections that let wildlife roam, ecosystems thrive, and life flourish across a continent. Swipe to see how wildlife crossings, corridor restoration, and species recovery fit into that picture. Rewilding takes collaboration. From the borderlands in Mexico to the boreal forests of Canada, we're working together across North America to restore wildlife. Swipe to learn how wildlife research, policy change, and partnerships on the ground make that possible. Wildlife can’t attend policy hearings, so we show up for them. From community board meetings to Capitol Hill, Wildlands Network has been in the room this year, pushing for policies that actually protect wildlife and the landscapes they move through. On May 27th, we’re hosting a free webinar to break it all down: the wins, the work still ahead, and how we keep Congress focused on what matters. 12–1pm MT / 2–3pm ET / 11am–12pm PT The wild needs people in its corner. Thirty-five years and one audacious idea later, our vision to rewild North America is proving possible. Today, we're proud to mark that milestone with a new website—a reflection of the conservation impact, scientific leadership, and strategic vision that have shaped our work for more than three decades. The wild has always needed advocates. We're grateful to have found so many in you. 👉 Visit our new site at the link in bio for the full 35-year story. #wildlifecorridors #wildlifeconservation #newwebsite

Our field team in Sonora, Mexico just retrieved something special from a camera trap. Wildlands Network placed cameras at a new site in eastern Sonora Mexico this past weekend, not far from the Northern Jaguar Reserve, core of the northernmost jaguar population. At another ranch in the region, whose owners are exploring conservation certification, they pulled the first jaguar photos ever recorded there: an adult male and a slender juvenile, most likely a female. We were lucky enough to get full-color daylight shots, revealing the beauty of these wild cats. These images are a reminder of what's at stake and why it’s so important to collaborate with landowners to protect wildlife. Support jaguar conservation, and rewilding the continent – donate at the link in our bio. #Rewilding #CameraTrap #Jaguar #SonoraWildlife #NorthernJaguar

We know a lot about how solar energy is generated. We know very little about what happens to wildlife when it's built in their habitats. Wildlands Network researchers are working to change that. Wildlife-solar research is a new field, and peer-reviewed science is how we build it right. Our study of pronghorn near an active solar facility in New Mexico is one of the first of its kind, with findings now under peer review. Read the full conversation with the researchers on the frontier of wildlife and solar at the link in our bio. #Wildlife #RenewableEnergy #Pronghorn #WildlifeConservation #ConservationScience

Wildlife have always needed room to roam. Climate change is making that more urgent, and roads are making it harder. At San Francisco Climate Week, we focused on solutions. On Earth Day, Wildlands Network led a group through Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve on our Path of the Puma hike, joined by Jason Lombardi of @californiadfw . The group explored how local landscapes like the East Bay connect to statewide wildlife corridors and what policies like the Room to Roam Act mean for animals trying to navigate them. The night before, we hosted Roam Free: A Wildlife Climate and Trivia Night. A room full of wildlife-obsessed competitors put their knowledge to the test. We’re grateful for everyone who came out to join us – we hope to see you all next year! #Wildlife #MountainLion #Conservation #Rewilding #CaliforniaWildlife

A movement is growing in Washington around wildlife crossings, and we were there to see it. Last week, in one congressional office alone, we learned we were the fifth group that week urging reauthorization of the Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program in the next federal transportation bill. The momentum behind this issue is bigger than any one organization or state. The stakes are high as we work to keep wildlife and the traveling public safe on our roadways. Over 1 million vehicle collisions with large animals happen on U.S. roads every year, but properly sited and designed crossings reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions by up to 97%. The case for renewal makes itself, but we are still waiting to see whether the program gets renewed in the next transportation bill. The first version of the bill could drop as early as next month. Stand with us when it does. Link in bio to donate. #WildlifeCrossings #WildlandsNetwork #HabitatConnectivity #WildlifeConservation #ProtectWildlife

Earth Day is a reminder that every action adds up. A single camera trap set-up becomes a dataset. A dataset becomes the case for a wildlife crossing. A single common goal unites a coalition. A coalition changes a law. A single corridor helps build a Wildway connecting ecosystems across a continent. The red wolf crossings we've advocated for in North Carolina, the habitat connectivity legislation we helped pass in states across the US, the landmark conservation law reforms that open private lands to protection in Sonora. All of it started somewhere small: a decision to show up. Today, our team is on the Hill making the case for wildlife. We're also out in San Francisco celebrating Climate Week. Whatever you're doing to mark the day, we're glad you're in it with us. 📷 Western Wildway WIRED Project, Wildlands Network #EarthDay #WildlifeCorridors #Rewilding #Wildways #WildlandsNetwork

Last week our team caught a glimpse of 2225F from a distance, a rare sighting of a wolf who has spent years outsmarting humans. Known to researchers as intelligent and nearly impossible to trap, her multiple litters have been crucial in making a future for her species possible. There are an estimated 28 red wolves left in the wild, and a significant number of them live along one of the most dangerous stretches of road in their range. US 64 cuts through Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, core of the only red wolf population remaining in the wild. Vehicle strikes are their leading cause of death, and when a population is this small, every loss is a setback. Since August 2024, we've been running daily roadkill surveys on US 64. In the year before we started, five red wolves were killed by vehicles. Since we began, only one has died on US 64. Our data helped win funding to build underpasses and fencing on US 64, giving red wolves and hundreds of other species a safe path to a future. 📸 Nathan Tabor #RedWolf #WildlifeCrossings #AlligatorRiverNWR #EndangeredSpecies #Rewild

Utah's mule deer, elk, and pronghorn have migrated across these landscapes for generations. As the state keeps growing, the decisions local planners make today will shape the future of wildlife and habitats across the state. Wildlands Network just released Planning for Habitat Connectivity – a toolkit to help communities plan with wildlife in mind. We sat down with the author, Kasey Lindstrom, to dig into what wildlife-friendly planning can look like on the ground. Link in bio to read the conversation and download the toolkit. #Utah #WildlifeConservation #MuleDeer #Rewilding #WildUtah
