Announcing: Ngàn hoa đua nở | A Thousand Flowers Racing to Bloom, a solo-exhibition of new work by Nguyên Doãn at Wildfruit Projects, opening May 29th, 2026 In “A Thousand Flowers Racing to Bloom,” Vietnamese artist Nguyên Doãn presents his first body of work created in the United States. Having studied art in Ho Chi Minh City, he now draws from a new world of seasonal change—where spring blossoms, summer vibrance, autumn fading, and winter stillness become both subject and metaphor. Each piece is accompanied by poetry, written as a way to process the emotions of migration: wonder, nostalgia, uncertainty, and hope. The flowers he paints are more than what they appear; they represent moments of growth, adaptation, and the courage to bloom in unfamiliar soil. This debut exhibition captures a fleeting yet powerful chapter: the intersection of past and present, home and horizon. From the artist: “A Thousand Flowers Racing to Bloom is a message to the millions living far from home, those who hope for a bright future, like flowers that bloom when given enough sunlight each spring.” “Ngàn hoa đua nở, của triển lãm này như một lời gửi gắm đến hàng ngàn, hàng triệu người Việt Nam xa xứ vẫn luôn mong ước một tương lai rực rỡ như những đóa hoa khi đủ nắng nở rộ mỗi độ Xuân về.” Nguyên Doãn was born in 1981 in Bình Dng, Vietnam. He trained at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts and is a member of the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association. He arrived in the United States with his family on September 16, 2024. Since arriving he has painted around 130 works, repeatedly returning to the spring blossoms and autumn leaves that stir deep feeling in a new land. Please join us for an opening reception on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 5-9 PM at Wildfruit Projects, 4704 Virginia Avenue, St. Louis, MO, 63111. Free and open to the public. A percentage of art sales will go to support the Very Asian Foundation #nguyendoan #stlartist #contemporaryart #immigrantartist #immigrantexperience

Join STL CITY COLLAGE and WILDFRUIT PROJECTS in celebrating World Collage Day 2026. This group show celebrates the legacy of collage as a tool for imagining and conjuring liberation, an Afrofuturist practice of inhabiting the past, present, and future at once. Inspired by the visionary "blueprints for change" left by pioneers like Octavia Butler, Sun Ra, and Romare Bearden, these works utilize speculation as a vital framework for dreaming new worlds into being. Explore collage works by Black St. Louis artists: Micheala Angelena Jay Mosaic Ymani Wince Pacia Elaine Anderson Charisma Blue Maya Isabel Lee Diada Amiri Adria Nicole Webb Schedule: 05/09 | 6–9 PM: Reception 05/10 | 2–3 PM: Artist Q&A facilitated by Zenique Gardener Perry Location: Wildfruit Projects 4704 Virginia Ave, St. Louis, MO 63111

❤️‍🔥 Savoring the Erotic in Poetic Writing with @jillianskrillian and @la.vie.en.ro.22 💌 Sat, July 11, 11-1 pm @wildfruitprojects 🍑 RSVP required - bit.ly/4uOlKRt & link in bio! ✨ Led by St. Louis poets Jill Firns and Ro Kelly (co-facilitators of (In)Decent Queer Erotic Poetry Night), this workshop invites participants into a slowed-down practice of paying attention as a foundation of erotic writing. Drawing on Audre Lorde’s The Uses of the Erotic, Mary Oliver’s poetic concept of “devotion,” and adrienne marie brown’s Pleasure Activism, this workshop presents attention itself as a sensual (and radically queer) discipline of queer erotic writing. Jill and Ro will lead participants through a hands-on exploration of erotic attention that asks us all to linger longer with taste, texture, and sensation—even if the world outside is insisting our attention stay short-lived, divided, and strained. Resisting the pace of capitalism and Empire, participants will engage in slow, guided sensory exercises, including: a mindful embodiment exercise, slow tasting of fruit and chocolate, and tactile exploration of different fabrics. Our experiences in these exercises will be used as entry points into writing prompts that encourage detail, presence, and somatic savoring. Through close sensory engagement and generative writing prompts, Jill and Ro hope you will explore how devotion to the moment—however small, sweet, or strange—can become a strong, sexy foundation for writing vivid, embodied, and politically alive erotic poetry. #stlouisartist #queerwriters #eroticwriting #workshop
