#tacticaltuesday - Tactics In the Bible: in Joshua chapter 7, the Israelites lost a battle against the city of Ai that should have been easily won. But since they stole from God, He was not with them in battle because of their sin. Joshua makes certain than they remove the sin that kept them from God. So in chapter 8, God devises some great tactics for the Israelites to defeat Ai. After God tells him His plan, Joshua sends some of his soldiers to attack the city of Ai in the same manner in chapter 7 where the Israelites were defeated. In response, the king of Ai sends out his army to fight the Israelites thinking it would be another easy win. In fact, the king is so confident because of his previous victory that he sends out his entire army to finish off the Israelites once and for all. In actuality, the Ai army was lured out. They took the bait and were ambushed by some of the Israelite soldiers. And as they were being ambushed, other Israelite soldiers went in and destroyed the city that was left vulnerable. Pretty cool tactics, right? Here’s the really cool part... It was because of Israel’s sin that caused them to be defeated in chapter 7. But because Israel repented, God used their defeat as a tactical advantage in the battle in chapter 8.
Don’t ever believe that you are too messed up or too sinful to be saved. Jesus loves you and His death and resurrection is powerful enough to save the worst of sinners. If you repent of your sin and and give your life to Jesus, He will not only forgive and restore you, but He can use what had previously defeated you as a tactical advantage to bring victory in your life and His kingdom!
