We wanted to make his inner world tangible and create a representation of what his childhood perception of reality might have looked like, in order to better understand his present. When director Wietske approached me with the idea of adding dream sequences to the documentary, film immediately came to mind. Last week, my debut documentary AFRICAN GOLD premiered in collaboration with ADE Club Lab at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. After a beautiful panel talk earlier that week, the cinema of the Melkweg became the home of two sold-out screenings!!
