He would take the tiniest sips while listening to his portable radio on blast. With his vision and hearing mostly deteriorated, this ritual of sips+tunes became his primary means of staying busy and connected… My mom depicted this scene exactly (down to the ominous clock on the side table, lol) in the painting I also sent over, where you can see a hint of the private solace the ‘sippy’ provides amidst the general malaise of advanced age.” Ode to the Sippy is compiled of songs that create a similar sense of bittersweet interiority :-) thank you, Ryan 🥤
