I had a worry dream that I opened this bisque kiln and saw Sunshine Cat’s yellow loopy crown had fallen off and broke into a bunch of pieces. Happy to see that she survived perfectly! Now I have a few weeks to figure out how I want to glaze her. 🌻👑🙌

Today’s a big day for my Sunshine Cat sculpture! It’s bisque kiln day 🌻💁♀️🙌
I first started working on this sculpture at the end of January. I built this sculpture solid and then hollowed out the middle. It took a few weeks to add all of the texture. I used a small extruder to make tiny coils that I then used to shape into the fur. I made the sweater by creating a basket, weave type pattern with long round coils. While still in the greenware stage, I added under glaze to make the fur lavender and pale pink. My plan is to add the black underglaze after the bisque fire and then wipe away some of the black so that the color shows through in the fur. I’m also going to add color to the sweater once it’s bisque ware.

Greta the Walrus has been on a journey and it’s not quiet over yet!
This sculpture of a walrus and her graduation wreath lounging on her couch started rather boring without much color and has since turned into a happy, cheery walrus! This week I’m adding the final touches with some glaze and then she will be glaze fired late next week. 💁♀️🔥🙌
