I’ve always been the one wandering — camera in hand, notebook in pocket, curiosity leading the way. But somewhere between the cafĆ© conversations, art shows, border crossings, and quiet neighborhood walks, I realized: this isn’t just about travel. It’s about culture. connection. belonging. About the stories we inherit and the ones we create. About how the global majority — Black, brown, Indigenous, diasporic — carries the heartbeat of the world wherever we go. So this is the next chapter of While Flaneuring — not just travel stories, but culture in motion. A living journal of people, art, ritual, memory, and global kinship. You’ll see city field notes, visual diaries, a little history, cultural etiquette gems, stories from the salons I host through Cultural Diplomats Club, and reflections on what it means to belong — everywhere and nowhere all at once. If you believe curiosity is a form of love, and community is an art — welcome home. šŸŒāœØ We wander to meet the world — and each other. #WhileFlaneuring #CulturalDiplomats #GlobalMajority #SoftPowerTravel #CultureInMotion #WanderWithIntention

Cabo wasn’t a destination. It was a permission slip. Permission to slow down. To sit by the water and not document every second of it. To eat without rushing and laugh without a reason and just be with the women I love most. My sister’s birthday. My mom’s presence. My full, undivided attention on both of them. No itinerary. No agenda. Just us noticing things — the light at golden hour, the way the water changes color, the small moments that don’t make the grid but live in your body forever. This is what vacation is supposed to feel like. That’s the trip. That’s all it needed to be. 🌊✨🧔 #whileflaneuring #vacationmode #cabosanlucas #mexicansunsets #artofnoticing

The world’s largest tea producer gave America iced tea, gave North Africa mint tea, gave England its afternoon tradition — and the other evening, gave me one of the most beautiful evenings I’ve had in DC. Tea for Harmony at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China was everything: traditional musicians from Beijing, six categories of Chinese tea, a live ceremony, and a reminder that culture has always been the most powerful form of diplomacy. There’s an ancient Chinese saying — ā€œIt is the blending of ingredients that makes the soup delicious.ā€ The world and its cultures. The blending is the point. šŸµ On UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Rooted in thousands of years of philosophy. Traveling the globe one cup at a time. This is what flaneuring looks like. #whileflaneuring #teaceremony #culturaldiplomacy #Chineseculture #embassyexperience

April is Arab American Heritage Month — and honestly, my Arab friends have been my best travel guides — no need to book a flight. The food, the music, the hospitality, the stories. It quietly changed the way I move through the world. šŸ¤ So consider this my love letter to Arab American creatives who are out here giving us their full selves — no filter, no watering down. From comedy to film, music to poetry to visual art — these are the people I’ve been pressing play on, dog-earing pages for, and low-key telling everyone about at dinner. Swipe through and get familiar. And if I left off your favorite, drop them below — because I know I missed somebody. šŸ‘‡ #arabamericanheritagemonth #arabamerican #cultureandtravel #globalcreatives #representationmatters

Most people don’t actually travel. They just relocate their anxiety. I said what I said. šŸ™‚ I picked up Alain de Botton’s ā€œThe Art of Travelā€ expecting a love letter to wanderlust. What I got was a quiet interrogation of every assumption I’ve ever made about why I move through the world the way I do. de Botton doesn’t tell you where to go. He asks whether you even know how to be somewhere. And honestly? That question sat with me for days. Swipe through 7 themes that reshuffled something in me — on anticipation, attention, the sublime, and the uncomfortable truth that no destination is far enough to outrun the version of yourself that boards the plane (or whatever your preferred mode of transportation). The theme that hit hardest: the idea that real transformation in travel isn’t about the itinerary. It’s about learning to look. Slowly. On purpose. (See slide 6.) So — save this for your next trip. And then tell me in the comments: Has a place ever genuinely changed you? Or did you change, and the place just happened to be the backdrop? I want the real answer. šŸ‘‡ #whileflaneuring #theartoftravel #travelphilosophy #curioustraveller #travelthroughbooks

From the Bronx to the whole damn world. šŸŒšŸŽ¤ Hip hop has no passport — it just shows up, takes over, and makes itself at home. This week’s Sonic Sundays playlist is proof. India. Japan. Palestine. Turkey. Nepal. Puerto Rico. Morocco. Senegal. Korea. Cambodia. One genre. Every continent. Zero borders. Global Hip Hop Vol. 1 is live. Your ears are not ready. šŸŽµ S.L.A.B. ā€œJohannesburg isn’t chaotic…you’re just not fluent in it yet.ā€ Graffiti that feels like a conversation mid-sentence. Commissioned murals that turn whole buildings into living archives šŸŽØ A goat in the street, unbothered, as if urban planning included livestock all along. A Nelson Mandela House that holds more than history…it holds a pulse. And yes, a KFC ad every few steps, somehow fully woven into the cultural fabric… Jozi doesn’t separate the sacred from the everyday. It layers them. Resistance lives on walls. Legacy lives in homes you can walk through. Global icons sit comfortably next to hyperlocal realities. Nothing is out of place. It’s just not curated for your comfort. Spend a little time here and you realize… this city isn’t trying to be decoded. It’s inviting you to pay attention. #whileflaneuring #jozivibes #streetarteverywhere #globalculture #wanderlustdiaries

I’ve been traveling lately…just not by plane. Through film. šŸŽ¬šŸŒ And what I keep noticing in contemporary African cinema is this through line — stories that don’t just entertain, but carry. You see it in the way mythology slips into everyday life. In how memory is treated like something alive, not archived. In how tradition and modernity aren’t opposites…but in constant negotiation. It all feels rooted in something older — the griot tradition. Where storytelling isn’t just art…it’s preservation, resistance, identity. And now, it’s being reimagined through the lens. So yes, the cinematography is stunning — but what really stays with you is how these films think. How they remember. How they imagine forward. Same world…different ways of telling it. #whileflaneuring #travelingthroughfilm #globalcinema #filmcritic

I thought I was just going to two Indian food/cookbook events last week… but I walked into a story about how culture travels. With Priya Krishna, it was about interpretation— how food gets translated, written, and shared so more people can understand it. With Sana Javeri Kadri and Asha Loupy, it started at the source— spices, trade, memory. Flavor as something you can trace all the way back. Two generations. Two different entry points. One shared intention: bringing people closer to culture through food. Not just how it tastes— but where it’s been…who carried it…and how it keeps evolving. Because the more I pay attention, the more I realize: food isn’t just nourishment. It’s interpretation. It’s memory. It’s movement. Culture travels…sometimes on a plate. **How did you first learn to understand the food you grew up with? #whileflaneuring #culturalstorytelling #foodashistory #diasporaspiceco #indianish

Paris isn’t just a place… it’s a collection of moments you keep replaying. šŸ‡«šŸ‡·āœØ From gilded symmetry at Palace of Versailles to the soft rebellion of street art tucked between Haussmann faƧades… from Marie Antoinette’s cottagecore escape (before cottagecore was a personality trait) to lovers embracing along the Seine River… and somewhere in between—stories you weren’t taught on the Black history walks that quietly reframe the whole city. Paris, but make it layered. Paris, but make it human. Paris, but make it…remembered. #WhileFlaneuring #ParisDetails #Versailles #CityTextures #blackhistoryeverywhere
