Students and Faculty of West Virginia University affected by their President’s recent budget-saving measures for @theatlantic .
In an effort to solve a budget deficit, more than 140 professors have been fired and upwards of 24 majors cut from the schools offerings, including one of only two puppetry programs in the US.
When I went to State school, classes like philosophy and film studies were a huge part of learning to think and move through a complex world. It’s troubling to think that if this trend continues, humanities will be something only available to those who can afford to attend a private collage.
