Pinch punch 1st day of the month (and look how full the calendar is!) Starting strong with a whole bank holiday weekend of live music, with a sold out show tonight and free gigs on Saturday & Sunday. The rest of the month is bursting at the seams with excellent grassroots music, comedy, dancing, gaming, friendship, and all that other good stuff that makes us happy. Plus it’s Spring and that’s really putting a bounce in our step. This bank holiday Sunday sees the jubilant return of a notoriously coveted Margate institution whose reputation now proceeds it… it’s The @moshimoshimusic Quiz! Hosted by Margate’s own Welsh indie DJ trio @celticfloormuscles Come and be puzzled in a way that explores the intersection between indie pop, modern pop culture and Margate with local tidbits and twists and turns thrown in like a guided tour of ‘Indie Margate’ of sorts. WhereElse presents… the return of Margate Noise Complaints this May!! ⚒️🧨💥 A friendly, rambunctious, noisy live music all dayaaa extravaganza with @_tarmac @yoodoowrong @industrystandardband @french_toast_band @_miserablebastard_ And not forgetting… 🥁he’s tatted up most of Margate (odds on you’re currently reading this with his ink on ya) - we gotta give a big thanks to @max_goffe for making the poster on this one 💕 Meet the lineup: ⛓️‍💥 @_tarmac are Margate’s very own purveyors of fuzzed out punk and wall to wall dirge with METZ’ intensity, IDLES’ anthemia and Osees’ chaos, you’re in for a sweaty one. ⚡️ Experimental rock outfit @yoodoowrong (Montréal, CA) wed noisy, melodic guitar parts, effects-laden synthesizer soundscapes, deep bass grooves and patented percussive furies into sprawling, cathartic musical pieces. ⚔️ @industrystandardband are four London based artistic outliers. Part punk show, part absurdist carnival, their Cuban Italian figurehead displays the fearless charisma of an unhinged gameshow host while leading an explosion of sound and imagery. 🥐 @french_toast_band is a fresh, dynamic band playing a fusion of indie, garage, rock and soul. All underscored with a rich vein of raw energy punk: musically, philosophically, and politically. 🔮 @_miserablebastard_ (Margate, UK) make powerful, distortion encrusted soundscapes that summon the witch in all of us. A melting cauldron of death metal, grindcore and doom - they even have a sold out demo tape! Absolute witchcraft! But they will be using this show to launch their first LP, recorded in Margate.

If you know you know, and if you don’t, know you can at Where Else? on Fri 15th May. Founded in 2013, Tasty Morsel is an archive of the obscure, intermittent & colourful Music of CHARNWOOD. The Morsels Mystery Tour is a series of small, medium and large special events across Europe and the UK, featuring a variety of Morsellists in sometimes atypical environments.

Blending the soulful intimacy of Tracy Chapman with the emotional resonance of Joan Armatrading, Olivia Dean and Rachel Chinouriri, LANTA’s recent body of work ‘Liminal’ threads together acoustic textures, alternative sensibilities and pop instinct with lyrics that refuse to shy away from the rawness of lived experience. Next month & selling like hot cakes! @chineseamericanbear 🐻 Gorg poster by @amerypress 💕 Chinese American Bear is a lighthearted and quirky mandopop duo from Seattle, creating fun & eclectic bilingual English/Chinese ear candy. Comprised of Anne Tong and Bryce Barsten, the married couple creates groovy, and infectiously fun tunes in their home studio together. Their sound, resulting from the intersection of Barsten’s fondness for MGMT, The Flaming Lips, Pond, and Sly Stone, with Tong’s classical piano training and love for all things pop (Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers), have allowed them to carve out their own brand of indelible indie pop.

If @houseoflifeshow ’s goal is to get you happy - THEY SMASHED IT! Led by the glitter-clad Rave-Rend with vocals from the heavens @benwelch17 , we sang, we danced, we shook shaky eggs… We let it all out!
