January/February 2025: a visit to Boone (where I purchased that green tray that now holds hundreds of tiny prints), airport drops so kids can get back to college, Billy Collins at the Durham Public Library, a trip to Arizona to visit the parents and go off-road Jeeping, snow in NC, and a Jeni’s opened in my town.
Madrid, Spain. ❤️ Together with my girl again. We packed up her dorm room and hauled those suitcases up 45 stairs to our hotel room. She’s been taking me to some of her favorite spots in this city. We happened upon the giant puppets that are part of the San Isidro festivities, have walked thousands of steps, went to the Prado, and are enjoying the Vermut and olives.
Cheers to twenty-one and to the one who made me a mama. She’s made her own cake this year (last slide) and is overjoyed to be hosting a dinner party for 13 of her friends. We toasted over FaceTime while she prepared the feast. I miss her adventurous, enthusiastic energy so much. 💞
We moved our youngest into her dorm in Madrid, Spain last Sunday. She’s there for her first year of college with New York University. Several pics here are from the NYU academic building, including the ones on the balconies. First day of classes was yesterday (last pic). I’m so proud of you, Junebug! And I’m already missing you desperately. 😘
Madrid: outside the Reina Sofia art museum, Queen Sophia at the Reina Sofia, art, Guernica, sisters & art, me at the Reina Sofia, D outside the Chocolatería San Giles (since 1894!), churros and chocolate, reading, the English bookstore Desperate Literature, Puerto del Sol at night
The Madrid airport (beautiful), lunch (kind of I guess because my god the jet lag) at Lolina, lots of walking, bakery stop for palmiers, ham, Plaza Mayor, university girls, lovely architecture, dinner at a Brazilian restaurant
