A Glimpse of Sabreen’s Performance at al-Hakawati
Taken in 1988, this photograph captures a glimpse of Sabreen’s performance at the Palestinian National Theatre- al-Hakawati.
In 1987, trailblazing Palestinian band ‘Sabreen’ expanded into Sabreen Association for Artistic Development as a non-profit, community-based organization to promote music and other artistic expressions within the local Palestinian arts community. The Association is an organic growth from the Music Band Sabreen and continues to follow the vision of its founders; change through music.

في عام 1987، قامت الفرقة الفلسطينية الرائدة “صابرين” بتوسيع نشاطها لتصبح جمعية صابرين للتنمية الفنية، وهي مؤسسة غير ربحية مجتمعية تهدف إلى تعزيز الموسيقى وأشكال التعبير الفني الأخرى ضمن المجتمع الفني الفلسطيني المحلي. نشأت الجمعية كتطور طبيعي عن فرقة صابرين الموسيقية، ولا تزال تسير على خطى رؤية مؤسسيها: إحداث التغيير من خلال الموسيقى.

Karimeh Abbud was a Palestinian photographer and one of the first professional female photographers in the Arab world. Born in Nazareth, she began taking photos as a teenager and later opened her own studio. She became known for her portraits of women and families, as well as her documentation of everyday life and landscapes in Palestine. Her work is celebrated as a vital record of Palestinian society in the early 20th century.

كريمة عبود مصوّرة فلسطينية وتُعتبر من أوائل المصوّرات المحترفات في العالم العربي. وُلدت في الناصرة، وبدأت التصوير وهي مراهقة قبل أن تفتتح استوديو خاص فيها. اشتهرت بصور البورتريه للنساء والعائلات، وتوثيق الحياة اليومية والمناظر الطبيعية في فلسطين. تُعد أعمالها سجلًا مهمًا للمجتمع الفلسطيني في بدايات القرن العشرين.
