Looking to learn a little craft history this summer? We've got you!
Three exciting classes are being offered in partnership with Craft in America's Handwork 2026 project. All courses are 4-weeks and taught online via Zoom.
BLACK CRAFT IN THE U.S. (June 1 - June 22)
Taught by Dr. Aleia M. Brown @collardstudies
Handwork, Soulwork: Black Craft in the United States offers a social history of quiltmaking, pottery, basketmaking, and blacksmithing. Each week explores a different practice, the craftspeople working within that practice, their work, and the material conditions in which they created their work.
AMERICAN GLASS (June 9 - June 30)
Taught by Mary Mills @wheatonarts
Using major museum collections, historic photographs, videos, and archaeological collections, this course will examine how the demand for specific skills and opportunities for creativity evolved with changes in technology and design trends.
READING CRAFT (July 1 - July 29)
Taught by Dr. @michellemillarfisher
Craft history is still a nascent discipline, and the texts that describe its boundaries and centers are both significant and yet still hungry for better company. The course will require active participation and will be shaped much like a friendly, conversational, engaged book club.

Explore the 2026 Exhibits in the Museum of American Glass at WheatonArts.
We are delighted to have Jocelyne Prince as the 2026 guest artist and curator at the Museum of American Glass.
- Visitors to the Museum of American Glass will encounter a site-specific window installation, “Ghost Optics,” by guest artist Jocelyne Prince. Using early methods of flat glass and bottle glass production, Prince created a room of color and haunting reminders of America's past.
- Museum guests may explore another new exhibition, “Portals & Passages,” curated by Prince. She has brought together five artists: Justin Ginsberg, Romina Gonzales, Ashley Raye Harris, Matthew Day Perez, and Alexander Wenstrup, who have an acute understanding of how just a few millimeters of glass can shift our perception of the world. Each work in "Portals & Passages" catalyzes the optical and sculptural space that exists within a sheet of glass.
Experience the return of “Transformations: The Wasserstein Collection of Contemporary Glass.”
- This Collection features almost 60 masterworks donated to WheatonArts by Linda and Henry Wasserstein. The Wassersteins’ generous donation, shown in its entirety, features work by the artists who first transformed glass into a medium for functional, sculptural, and conceptual art, as well as those who are leading the field today.
Visit wheatonarts.org for more information. Each exhibit will be on display through December 31, 2026.
WheatonArts is open Thursday through Sunday, from 11 am to 4 pm. WheatonArts is located at GPS: 1000 Village Drive, Millville, NJ 08332

Our Opening Program and Reception for the “Paved with Promise: Immigration and Cultural Heritage” Traveling Exhibition was held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Down Jersey Folklife Center at WheatonArts.
We want to thank everyone who attended, as well as master artists April Yang and Shikha Dwivedi for sharing their art and insights with us.
This traveling exhibition is a part of a bigger project celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Immigration and Nationality Act (aka Hart-Celler) of 1965, which allowed for the lifting of certain restrictions on immigration from outside Europe and opened the doors for legal migrations from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other regions of the world. Soon after 1965, many new communities began making their home in New Jersey and continue to diversify its cultural landscape to the present day.
The exhibition will be available at the Down Jersey Folklife Center at WheatonArts from April 2 through May 3, 2026.
Visit wheatonarts.org for more information.
"Paved with Promise" is a project of the network of NJ Folklife Centers and the NJ State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
