Our dear friend Parisa @parisinia_ has hosted “Carpet Cabaret” - her first own event at The Pool - then shared the Iranian new year - Nowruz - with all of us. Since this wonderful celebration, the Iranian people had to endure a lot of suffering. Parisa has been instrumental in organising gatherings for sharing and being together, mourning circles and fundraisers. We salute her - and all the others involved in this work of great care. We admire your incredible energy and strength in awe and support where we can.

I have organized well over 100 events of different kinds and one false assumption stood out: More people make a more successful event. This belief is rooted in an assumption that more people create more opportunities. This does not hold, true as actually not more but more fitting people create better opportunities. I once organized a week-long event taking place in Cape Town, South Africa and was supposed to have 40+ participants. We ended up to be 12 (including us organizers). I felt that I let everybody down and this is nothing short of a disaster. After all of it was done, the dreaded feedback rolled in, and to my surprise we got glowing reviews. How is that possible? The connections were much deeper in the small group and therefore more meaningful and full of potential…

We built this place on our conviction that real connection is what matters - now more than ever. That people need spaces to think, create, and just be together, away from the noise. Nearly two years of poetry nights, film screenings, live music and conversations that lasted until sunrise. Of hosting dreams and lending our walls to yours. It was always more than a venue.
