Core memory 🫟 Jammed with the legend AG Saño @whaleboy2000 and the cutest little breakdancers for a mural at a community library along Circular Futures Street in Bayay Numancia, Del Carmen, Siargao 🌊 A project by World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines @wwfphilippines , it’s an open mural where the whole town showed up: kids, neighbors, everyone painting together. The design carries the rhythm of a circular world: nothing wasted, everything returning—recycled, reused, repaired, reborn. A quiet reminder to move lighter, to take only what we can give back, and to lessen the weight we leave behind. A perfect fit for tito AG, who’s been living zero waste for over a decade. Tito AG’s design was shaped by time spent with the locals of Siargao—listening, learning, just being present. Del Carmen’s mangrove forest stretches over 4,800+ hectares, roots like quiet hands holding the shoreline together—soft, but steady. You can feel how everything connects: water, soil, people, stories. It’s the largest contiguous mangrove forest in the Philippines, a Ramsar wetland of international importance, with a 1.8 km boardwalk and around 40 mangrove species woven into the ecosystem. Coming from La Union, a typhoon-prone town like IAO, this really hit me. Makes me want to keep showing up for the environment—softer, stronger, more consistent. There was something in the air that day—slow, grounded, like your breath syncing with the tide. Mind, body, soul moving as one. This is the kind of stoke that stays with me—not just waves, but community. For me, pure stoke is caring together—for our common playground, our shared home, our friends, our source of joy and livelihood. Super fun and alive participatory art!! Stoked and grateful tito AG let me add my own piece too—left a bit of myself on the wall. Sayang I was only there for a day, but I won’t ever forget this experience. Salamat karajaw! Collective work, always. PREMIERES tomorrow, March 30, 8PM at the Studio Maya Art Podcast! AG Saño on why street art repeats, why he fights, and why he keeps creating Watch premiere for FREE: (link in bio) -- AG Saño is a Filipino street artist whose work bridges public murals, political expression, and climate activism. He gained attention for his dolphin mural, which highlighted marine conservation and the fragile state of global waters. His practice also intersects with civic engagement, notably through murals supporting Leni Robredo during the 2022 elections, aligning his art with calls for accountability and reform. Rooted in environmental advocacy, Saño uses accessible imagery in public space to raise awareness, making urgent issues visible and engaging communities toward collective responsibility and action.

After 3 years since the opening of the Angat Buhay hq and Museo ng Pag-asa, here's a little bit of retouching to keep Robert Alejandro's work intact and beautiful. We added more murals to the blank walls too. Salamat sa Angat Sining fellows, sa Art Atak crew and Angat Buhay family!

(Please see last photo to see the portrait of Jose Rizal) Rizal day Art Atak 2020 What words come up when we think of National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal? As street writers, we wrote them down on the pavement where he walked his final steps, just a few yards leading to the very spot where he was executed by a Spanish Firing Squad on December 30, 1896. We wrote them in big, bold, black letters. We wrote them bigger than our own selves. We wanted to remember what Jose Rizal did for the country, for our fellowmen/fellow women. We wanted the meaning of those words etched in our minds. We wanted to read them not just with our eyes but with our hearts. So we wrote them with improvised pigment from charred scrap wood. We wanted for them to be washed clean once flooded by the late December rain. And as the rain water fell, we watched those words vanish, wiped clean from the pavement, but (hopefully) never from our hearts.
