This is exactly why some of the ultra rich, who can get everything they ever desire just by the press of 1 button, are miserable.
If all your days are a “peak highlight” and you never face struggle or resistance…
You will lose the skill to appreciate the good.
Good and bad only work when both are present.
Only having “good” will become bad, and you can’t prevent that from happening.
So embrace the struggle, it’s part of the dance.

My why.
“You have a tumor on your jaw” - is not something you are expecting to be told when you are in your early 20s.
It sheds a light on all the things you didn’t do, all the risks you didn’t take.
I am grateful to say that all went well, and except for a few minor complications, I have not suffered much at all.
However, it did make me realize that I don’t want to die with the thought “I wish I had”.
and as Steve Jobs once said:
“Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.
Almost everything - all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure, these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.”
Sometimes I prefer to write about my feelings, as it feels less daunting than speaking about them.
So that is why, that is why I ask these questions that I post.
Hopefully, one day, I post a question that slightly alters a decision you make and that inspires you to live a 1% more fulfilled life.
Then I have succeeded, that is my why.

For me unplugging from the online world from time to time is a huge unlock in the quality of my life.
Seriously 72 hours without screens or 24 hours with just boardgames and books.
It allows my brain to calm down.
To not constantly be up-to-date with what’s happening online and in the world.
I’m not saying - all social media is bad.
I’m encouraging you to be intentional with it.
Check in with yourself what role you want it to have in your life?
Do you want to learn stuff? Do you want to reflect? Or do you want to be entertained?
Then curate your feed in line with your wants.

We are navigating a hyper-modern world with an ancient brain.

The way I think about this question:
I don’t expect to answer “yes” every single day.
It’s impossible to live everyday like it is your last.
But it also shouldn’t look like this:
“No. No. No. No. No….”
If my answer is “No” for a whole month in a row, I know something has to change significantly, because the truth is:
one day will be your last, so you might as well live some of them as if they are.
I invite you stop scrolling and take a moment of reflection for yourself.

It’s a strange feeling, once you leave your hometown, you open so many doors for growth and new perspectives…
But coming back never truly feels the same.
As if the old environment re-activates the person you used to be when you left.
While the city you go to, has created new versions of yourself.
At the end of the day, if you have the chance, I would still recommend it 100%
As I’d prefer to say “I did and I’m glad” rather than “I wish I had.”
This post expresses the feeling of coming back after you left.

The reason I’m still posting these sentences:
On one hand a simple sentence is shallow.
As in, they’re sharable, quick to consume, etc.
However on the other hand a simple sentence sometimes cracks something open inside of you that needed breaking.
I hope these can do just that for you.
It won’t happen when you just feel the dopamine rush and continue scrolling.
But it could happen when you take the one sentence that hits you the hardest and sit with it, why that might be the case.

I don’t really speak about this often, but this question represents what I felt when they found out I had a tumor on my jaw.
I don’t want to be dramatic about it, cause in the end it was all removed successfully, but I remember at 19 thinking: “f*ck my life so far wasn’t really mine.”
Which ultimately fueled my choices to where I find myself today.
But you don’t need a diagnosis, funeral or phone call to live your life authentically.
Mostly you just need space to reflect + courage to act.
So if you’re up for it, I would like to encourage you to sit down and journal on what an authentic life would feel and look like for you.
