This week is #NationalStutteringAwarenessWeek. For the next couple of days, you might notice we’re calling it “National Stuttering Acceptance Week.” But just hear us out! We want to build on the legacy of those who came before us, advocating for a world where stuttering is not just seen, but accepted. We’ve intentionally shifted the language to move the conversation deeper and foster understanding and acceptance of stuttering as a natural way of speaking. We’re using awareness to drive acceptance and encourage everyone to also consider using this language. What are your thoughts? Will you be using “acceptance,” “awareness,” or perhaps a combination of both? Interested in learning about NSAW's history? Head over to our bio to read the blog! #NSAW2026 #StutteringAcceptance #WeStutter

Most people only see stuttering on the surface. What they don’t see is everything underneath: the thoughts and the weight people carry before a single word comes out. Stuttering awareness means understanding that difference. Stuttering acceptance means respecting the person beyond it. People who stutter aren’t “less than” or “broken.” And for a lot of us, the goal isn’t to erase stuttering. It’s to live with it and stop fighting who we are. That shift matters for everyone. Ready to get involved? Head over to WeStutter.org. #Stuttering #NSA #NSAW #StutteringSupport

So… you’re going to the Annual Conference? Let’s talk! We’re hosting a three-part NSA Connects series to help you feel more prepared and a little more at ease before July. Our second session, featuring Elizabeth Minton and Aidan Marshall-Court, is on Thursday, May 28. These virtual sessions are a space to ask questions, hear from people who’ve been there, and get a better sense of what the Annual Conference experience looks like. If you’re new, this is a great place to start. If you’ve been before, come share what you’ve learned or pick up something new. Register at the events link in our bio! #NSA2026 #NSAConnects #WeStutter #Stuttering

This is what award-winning research sounds like. Courtney Luckman brought home first place at NYU’s PhD Live for discussing how stuttering is shaped by social context. Who we talk to (and what we think they expect) can change how we speak. Her work uses trained actors to recreate real-world pressure in the lab, revealing just how much the listener influences speech. And a clear reminder: fluency and effective communication are not the same thing. Take a listen! #PhDLive #NYU #ScientificResearch #Stuttering

One word can say a lot 💜🩵 For National Stuttering Awareness Week, we asked our TAC members to describe the NSA in just one word — and somehow, together, these words say everything ✨

Stuttering can feel isolating. But then you walk into a space where people get it. You hear all kinds of stuttering around you. And for the first time, you’re not the only one. That’s exactly what the power of community and shared experience does. Stuttering awareness matters. People and society still need to understand what stuttering is (and isn’t). And stuttering acceptance matters just as much. There needs to be more spaces where you don’t have to change who you are to fit. We got a space for you. Get involved today at WeStutter.org! #Stuttering #NSA #NSAW #StutteringSupport

At the NSA, we believe the responsibility isn’t on people who stutter to change how they talk. It’s on all of us to change how we listen. 💜 #Stuttering #StutteringSupport #StutteringAcceptance #WeStutter #NationalStutteringAwarenessWeek #NSAW2026
