Last week I was lucky enough to be invited along to a press day for the @westendcalling finals, a UK wide musical theatre competition for young performers 💛
For anyone who doesn’t know it, West End Calling has been running for years now as a charity, giving young performers aged 7–21 the chance to audition in front of West End professionals, get real feedback, and compete for a place performing in the Grand Final on an actual West End stage.
The talent in the room was incredible. We got to watch performances from one of the judges and also a previous winner and runner up whom have gone on to perform in shows like Matilda and Oliver! in the West End.
I also got the chance to speak with some of the trustees and judges, and asked them what advice they’d give to young performers (and their parents) thinking about applying next year.
