Warmest congratulations to our alumnus and trustee, Ven Dr Alex Hughes who has been appointed the next Bishop of Brixworth. As we celebrated the Feast of Ascension yesterday, it was wonderful to be joined by Alex, who preached the sermon at this week’s Community Eucharist. Reflecting on the mystery of the Ascension, Alex invited us to consider how we often try to remake God in our own image, and how Christ calls us instead to lift our eyes toward the holiness and transcendence of God.

Over the Easter vacation, one of our Diocese in Europe ordinands spent time at his home church, All Saints’ in Rome. We were delighted that he had an opportunity to act as altar server when Archbishop Sarah presided there and celebrated for the first time in the diocese. 📷 Archbishop's team and All Saints' parishioners.

It was such a joy to have the company of the Rt Revd Rachel Treweek, Bishop of Gloucester and Anglican Bishop for HM Prisons, who preached at our Sung Eucharist and joined us in fellowship tonight. As we anticipated the 6th Sunday of Easter, we were encouraged to reflect on speaking confidently of faith and God’s love, in a world longing for certainty yet yearning for mystery.

Tonight our student planning group prepared a ‘Teaching High Mass’ for our worship together, considering how they could help a parish congregation understand this Eucharistic tradition and its spirituality. In his sermon our Chaplain, Revd Canon Nick Moir, reflected on the ways this encourages us to engage our senses and our whole selves as we worship.
