Thank you to all the beautiful people I met in my time in Japan. The humanity I was met with was beyond special. The professionalism and level of craft was/is unmatched. You welcomed me into your homes, workshops, akebono, community with open arms. I truly appreciate this experience.
Special thank you to @studio_the_future@saga_collective@studioacte@ryokanakebono@satoruarai@ichi_tashiro_@_yukitamai@benjaminmilk@cosmic_lab@qrqi@valckxbas@dentakubeat , all of the workshops we visited, everyone from the prefecture and lastly no IG Hane-san.
See you in March. Very much looking forward to our exhibition. Much love.
I had been wanting to see @casperkofi since linking in Paris in June, so we arranged to meet at my studio. It was an October weekend day. I was with my sons per usual.
I’ve always loved Casper’s work. We were just catching up/hanging out and eventually it became him capturing the boys and I. It was super organic. The boys took the camera and took pics of each other. It was a really nice moment.
I had a lot of work to do that day (or telling myself such; I was reorganizing the space). This was a brief intermezzo I needed that day and a slice of life I will remember.
Thank you so much for this image @casperkofi …and for guiding the boys through the photography process.
This is my favorite image ever (yet) of my boys and I together.

(This is pre studio reorganization. Pre house build. Life has been so beautifully busy these past 3 - 6 months.)
The tribe/family I’ve grown into in Amsterdam is so beautiful/supportive, just like my fam in Cali, NY, LDN & South Africa…all over. I have wonderful people in my life. It takes a village y’all. Thank you.
A hard reset was needed and wasn’t easy. This is my take away from this year. Work hard, be good and the rest will fall in place. 2024 is already blessed. 🌀
My sons and I are building a house. Exactly what we need. Exactly how we want.
Give thanks. This is a blessing. And blessings only come when you make room for them; by shaking out all of the rest that isn’t necessary. 🚀
Over the past month, the studio has been stu’ing.
Lots of amazing studio visits. From artists whose practice I truly respect, but more importantly from people who I respect in life over art.
A lot of work; organizing, cleaning and resetting (and of course making new work) for bigger moves to come and currently at play. Just basically getting my head screwed back on tight. In these efforts, I truly thank @jnndo & @romaainja for their unrelenting help.
Thank you to everyone who pulled by in the past month. It was the best month so far at the studio in the four years of having it. Positive energy is real and it was something I definitely needed.
Currently in the zone. In life, in fatherhood and in the creative process. Tbh, all levels. Haha
Want to share more and will. Wish to say thank you. This is community and tribe built. Self initiated of course.
These recent efforts are possible due to more positivity entering my life and lot of negative energy exiting it. Just good all around vibes. It’s all love and shall remain such.
Past, present, future. Church pulpit to steeple. Find that deity in you. Godwork. Stay in the zone and GO!
Alluvial Floods. Cloud Work. Swerve Language. Machine Spray.
Acrylic, house, spray, oil paints. Paper, powders, charcoal, knifes, brushes.
Abstraction with mixed media and loose figuration.
All of this work is personal and it is already and will be the best works made to date.
Love!

“The mirror, the aha moment is the mirror. That, for me, is the one if you want to keep these positive things going, you’re going to have to stop some of the shit you’ve been doing. The aha moment is not really about the art or the art practice, because all of those things become automated if you just get yourself right. If I have the expectation of I’m gonna wake up and I’m gonna do exactly what’s good for my body and my family, those things will yield exactly what I need.”

Building over the past month has been a true pleasure my brother @raelis . Great art talks, jokes & bbq’s.
Cheers to new fam. Thanks again for the intro @larryosseimensah 🙏🏾
And yes, Fenan has become my home away from home. 😂
