An open invitation to bring a beloved basket to the Royal Welsh Show and to share its story ...
Do you have a basket or basketry item that has been in your family for generations? Do you have an old woven chair or bowl that you always wondered about? Do you have a favourite basket that you currently use for shopping, storage or just admiring?
In Wales our ancestors made baskets and basketry items from materials found in the landscape around them, for many uses around the home, farm and coastline. Rounded farm baskets made of hazel and willow, coiled straw seed baskets and chairs, handled baskets for shopping, fine baskets for displaying and carrying pretty things, lobster pots and fish traps were all commonplace.
We are searching for historical basketry items, favourite baskets and items that you maybe still use - to record, learn their stories and maybe recreate, as part of our Welsh heritage. Bring your beloved basket, photographs or memories of baskets along to the Small Action Ring for our expert basketmakers to have a look at and share YOUR basket's story.

When? Every day during the show. With a public discussion at 3pm in the talk Tent
