Since 2011, World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Day has been an annual event to help spread awareness about the conditions and highlight the rights of the people living with them.
The treatments and healthcare services for people with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus has improved a lot over the years that the recognition day has been alive, but there is still a lot of work to be done. In many countries, having access to correct treatment and care is not the norm, and many are discriminated against. World Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalis Day are working to break this stigma and educate people on the condition while also talking about ways to prevent neural tube defects.
