Hibiscus 🌺 Apple 🍎 tea 🫖 for blood pressure . . . 1/2 cup dried hibiscus 1/2 apple 1-2 cinnamon sticks Juice from 1/2 lemon Honey (sweeten to taste) 3-4 cups waters . . This is the smoothie I recommend to anyone who wants to support their heart health. If that is you stay to see how I make it.   This is a paid collaboration with @avocadosloveonetoday . #LoveOneToday    I have been adding fresh avocado to my morning smoothie every day and the reason goes way beyond the taste. Fresh avocados contribute good fats to the diet, providing 6 grams of unsaturated fat per one-third of a medium avocado, and the American Heart Association recommends replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats for heart health. They are also a good source of fiber, cholesterol free, sodium free and provide 250 milligrams of potassium per serving. As a public health nutritionist, this is exactly the kind of food as medicine example I recommend to everyone.   And here is the study that really sealed it for me. In a randomized, double-blind, crossover feeding trial, 42 adults with elevated triglycerides followed two 3-week diets: one where a daily Hass avocado replaced solid fats and added sugars, and a matched control diet. The Avocado Nutrition Center funded the study and cannot be generalized to larger, more diverse populations. The avocado diet lowered non-HDL (“bad”) cholesterol, triglycerides, and the total-cholesterol-to-HDL ratio, supporting avocados as a heart-healthy choice in everyday meals. /10.1016/j.ajcnut.2025.101137 You will need: 1/2 fresh avocado 1 frozen banana 1/2 cup frozen pineapple Handful of spinach Juice from 1/2 lime 1 tbsp hemp seeds Coconut milk to blend   Blend until smooth and creamy.
