Today got in an cold 57F ows swim with friends and a short brick run. I want to tell you what happened while we were meeting up and preparing for the swim.
I saw a young guy walking brisk toward the lake and got in and started swimming. He wore bathingsuit, no wetsuit, no goggles. He seemed rushed. I saw him swim out and didn't think more of it. After a while I glanced out and I saw him swimming towards the shore. He'd been out there for about 30min. When he got ashore, one of my friends noticed he didn't look right. He was wobbling. We ran over there and I asked him if he was OK. He nodded, he couldn't speak. Then when he tried to speak it was very slurry and he could not stand up without help. I asked his name and age and he slurred back. I instantly knew he had hypothermia. One of my friend called 911. I helped him get his sweater, socks and shoes on. Then we walked him towards his car. I told him he could not drive and he needed to get warmed up in his car. He was grateful. As we were walking we saw the rangers and waved them down. I asked him if he had planned to get in to swim. He said yes, he wanted to swim. Yet, no towel or proper preparness.
Then the park rangers and the paramedics came. We were witnesses and filled out a form. We then went back to the others. As we now were ready to swim the park ranger came back to us and told us that we had saved his life. They had never seen such a severe hypothermia before. They were very grateful that we called and helped out. Just wanted to tell the story, never hesitate to ask and interfere if you see someone act strangely. Thank goodness we were there and we could help save his life. đ𼰠Stay safe out there. Summer is upon us.

Ohboy, fun but a tough marathon for me. 𼾠I trained up to 13 miles not thinking I would do this marathon. Decided last minute. My body held out and no knee and other body part pain. Except for chafing on my back from the hydropack! đł 3rd place of 6, I take that!! đ Also congrats to my friend Annie and new friend Tracy!!đđťđ¤Š

I got in my first open water swim this year and I survived the cold, hehe!! đ I thought Iâll share a few tips that might help if you feel nervous getting in.
Before you even get in the water come up with one or two mantra and repeat to yourself. I like to use:
âIâm in controlâ âmy body is strong, I can do itâ âOne breath at a timeâ I'm a badass" đŞđ
Cold water will spike your breathing, so stay calm and take control of your breath.
* Walk in slowly until waist/chest deep
* Do some bobbing. Put your face in, come up, and blow out slowly.
Inhale through your nose (2â3 sec) long slow exhale through mouth (4â6 sec)
Do 3â5 rounds of this.
Trust your wetsuit, its designed to keep you afloat. Float on your back or tread water for a moment to feel the buoyancy.
Start slower than you think you should. Starting too fast in cold water increases heart rate and breathing, which in turn increasing anxiety and fatigue early in the swim. Focus on long exhales in the water. Donât worry about speedâjust rhythm.
Use Earplugs to prevent dizziness and âice headacheâ feeling.
Wear Double swim cap or neoprene cap. It keeps more heat inâyour head loses a lot of body heat.
Bring a Swim buoy. Get a bright for visibility, and it gives you something to hold if you need a reset.
"Breathe, stay calm, go with the flow"
Youâve got this!! đ

I'm training for Challenge Roth, an Ironman distance, and some days I donât feel like training.
Not because I donât love itâŚ
But because my body and mind are asking for something different, To rest.
After 13 Ironmans, I thought I should always feel driven. Always ready.
But the truth is, strength looks different now as I'm aging. I listen to my body.
I rest more.
And I'm having the right supporting people around me.
Thatâs exactly why I created You Can Multisport.
A space for womenâespecially 40+âwho want to stay strong, active, and confidentâŚ
without pushing themselves into exhaustion.
Where we:
⨠Train with purpose
⨠Respect our bodies
⨠Support each other on the hard days
⨠Celebrate showing upâno matter what that looks like.
Because you donât need to prove anything.
You just need the right support to keep going.
I havenât raced a full Ironman in 4 years⌠and Iâm still here. Still moving. Still an athlete. And you are too.
If youâre ready for a different way to trainâ one that actually supports your lifeâmental and nutritional support.
Send me a message,
Iâd love to welcome you in đ¤

Running as you age isnât just about fitnessâŚ
Every time you go for a run, youâre telling your body:
âWeâre not done yet.â
Youâre building strength.
Protecting your bones.
Keeping your heart powerful.
And sharpening your mind.
Youâre proving to yourself that you can still do hard things.
On the days it feels toughâŚ
On the days youâd rather skip itâŚ
You show up anyway.
And that builds a kind of confidence that doesnât just stay on the runâ
it shows up in your whole life.
Because letâs be honestâŚ
The world expects us to slow down as we age.
âNot me.â
I donât run to add years to my lifeâ
I run to add life to my years. đ¤Šđ

Todayâs win:
Wohoo, I finally hit my best water handstand đ I have practiced this for fun! It wasn't luck. It was consistency.
If youâre wondering if you can still learn new thingsâŚ
You can.
Your body can still adapt.
Your mind can still grow.
Your goals still matter.
Donât give up on yourself.
Keep practicing. Keep showing up.
You might surprise yourself đĽ

Ever notice how the hardest part of swimming⌠is just getting to the pool?
Today I got in 2800m with paddles and pull buoyâstrong, steady, focused.
But to be honest, the real win wasnât the workout⌠it was showing up. đââď¸
Iâve been struggling (yes, STILL) to get my butt to the pool. Haha! đ
So I made a simple shift:
- I swim right after my coaching sessions.
- No going home.
- No âIâll come back later.â
-No overthinking.
Iâm already there⌠so I just jump in.
And guess what? It works. đđ
What's your way to stay consistent?

Counting down to open water swims, it's getting warmer! đ Until then, we build in the pool đââď¸ and on the bike đ´ââď¸
No matter your age- You are allowed to get excited, get stronger, and go after it. Because strong doesnât have an expiration date!đŞ đ
