A Feel Good Festival is set to take place in Exeter, with opportunities to step out on a guided walk, have a go at an exercise class or enjoy a complementary therapy. The event is being held at the Wonford Community and Learning Centre and Wonford Playing Fields on Saturday 16 May from 11am to 2pm. Community group Wonford Health Matters will be running the Feel Good Festival in conjunction with the Wonford Community and Learning Centre. The group recently received a £900 Exeter Community grant from the City Council to help run the festival. Wonford Health Matters promotes activities that support health and wellbeing. There will be free activities for all ages, free food and drink, face painting, a bouncy castle, football sessions with City Community Trust, and much more. People will be able to have a go at a new sport, enjoy dance and singing performances and get involved in a Double Elephant Print Workshop. There will also be chances to find out about connecting with others and nature and advice on how people can feel their best and keep well. Take the opportunity to come along and talk with Wellbeing Exeter! #communityworking #feelgood #wellbeing #HeathMatters #exeter #FREE #festival #facepainting

Arts and cultural engagement ‘linked to slower pace of biological ageing’. Research shows that regular arts and cultural activities — like singing, painting, or visiting museums — may slow biological ageing and improve health. A UK study found that people who took part in arts activities weekly were biologically younger on average, with benefits comparable to quitting smoking. The findings support recognising arts engagement as a health-promoting behaviour, similar to exercise. Wellbeing Exeter’s Connectors help people build these creative activities into everyday life, turning “arts as medicine” into a lasting habit. Read more at theguardian.com

We walk together, connected and built on friendships, we learnt lots, used Google lens to identify plants and bugs, shared information about local groups and activities. The lovely Charlotte (our new Community Physical Activity Organiser) joined us to discover the Valley park for the first time. The next walk is Wednesday 20th May 11am, meet at the entrance to Mincinglake Valley for a slow walk and get exploring and curious

Charlotte and I popped up outside St Sidwell's School to ask - ❓️ What activities would you like to see in Queen's Crescent Gardens ? 🕚 Can you spare some time to support? 💡The most popular ideas were Yoga & Badminton 👁 Keep an eye on our pagss to see what happens as we are working with St James' Forum, who are keen to see this gorgeous green space used by all the community. The bank holiday weekend is the perfect time to get out in the garden and give it a Spring update 🌻 Recently, some of the Colab community have been sprucing up the Colab garden and our Wellbeing Exeter Community Connectors have joined in, armed and ready with gloves and a trowel 👩‍🌾 It's amazing how much your mood can be lifted by spending an hour or so out in the fresh air, surrounded by colours and getting stuck in with nature. Let us know in the comments how you spent your bank holiday weekend. Maybe we've inspired you to get out in the garden.🌿
