The Game of Wool 2025 💫
I don’t think I can put into words what an experience it was to take part in the Game of Wool. It was hilarious, tough, inspiring, emotional and so much more.
When I was asked to be on the show and I saw the word design alongside knitting and crochet, I immediately said “I follow patterns and that’s how I like to knit”. I could never have imagined I would create things I did, this show has been an absolute learning curve!
My expectation when we began filming was never to get to the final - the talent in the barn was incredible. My intention was and still is to make my two daughters proud, to show them that they too can pursue their passions and dreams. If there was only one outcome from this show, I hope I achieved that.
I genuinely could not have taken part if it wasn’t for my family support system who gladly stepped in and encouraged me to take part. There were a huge amount of logistics involved (and 7 wonderful family members) making sure the girls routine was maintained. It wasn’t easy being away for the majority of the week (and a couple of weekends) but I really hope I’ve done my family proud.
To my fellow contestants, thank you for the laughs, the tears, the hugs and support. I have learnt so much from you all, you made the experience worthwhile and I’m glad to have made friends for life.
To Di, Sheila and Tom thank you for the encouragement on and off screen. I’m grateful to have met you and been a part of this journey with you all.
The crew on set were absolutely fantastic. So much care, love, warmth, cans of coke and biscuits. 8 weeks on set and you definitely get to know each other - you guys did an amazing job and I definitely miss our little GOW bubble.
So there we have it, 8 solo knits and 8 group challenges. 24 runs down to the seafront and back. 8 weeks travelling from London to Scotland - juggling work, filming and most important to me, my family.
Now it’s time to relax after 8 intense viewing weeks and enjoy Christmas with my wonderful family 💕
Shia Shawl Test Knit ✨
The Shia Shawl is a fun 1 skein/ball shawl which is worked with a cable pattern to add texture.
For this test knit we’re delighted to be offering yarn support for UK based testers. However this test is not limited to using our yarn, so please don’t feel you have to use our yarn or be based in the UK.
Link to apply is in our bio!
The Shia shawl was inspired by the soothing pattern created by the Shifting Sands cable pattern. Shia means Sand in the Ga language.
The Shia shawl is worked from tip to tip with increases made along the left hand side until the shawl is wide enough to start decreasing.
What is great about this pattern is that if you have less yarn or more, you can work more or less increases, until you’ve used 50% of your yarn, and then start the decreases.
The pattern has both written and charted instructions
Details:
Test knit length: 3 weeks (25th May – 15th June)
Finished Dimmensions: 134cm by 26.5cm
Gauge: 20 stitches, 28 rounds per 10cm/4inches in the cable pattern (after being blocked)
Yarn requirements: 100g of DK weight yarn or 225m/246yards
Any questions let me know!
Trying to add some brightness to our day today by using our Bukom DK Raspberry Pink colour way 💕
The sun keeps making short appearances in between heavy downpours, so we wanted something bright to make up for it!

Some very exciting post came today from @theknittermag 🫶🏽
Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me @roseewoodlandknits and let me chat about a variety of things including the game of wool, Weku yarn, designing and Bukom DK 💕
Something surreal about seeing us both in print! So surreal it’s a double post day 😮💨
I heard you all 🤣 Dad’s gonna get his jumper - but we had a few practicalities to work through first!
He has said he needs it for the winter, so no rush 😩🫠 anyway off I go to work up some sort of design. He doesn’t want one colour so it’s either stranded colourwork, stripes or slip stitches… wish me luck!
Amarh is back and officially on the payroll 😉
It’s a bit of a long one, but Dad talks to us about Bukom (the namesake for our new yarn), a bit of its history and what his favourite yarn colours are! But most importantly makes a public request for a knitted sweater…
So… should I make Dad a sweater?!
