This exhibition invites you to see the American Revolution in a whole new light — expanding the story to the broader Atlantic World, spotlighting powerful ties between Philadelphia and Caribbean Jewish communities, and uncovering surprising insights into the people and events that helped secure American independence.

Happy Birthday to Maxine Kumin (1925–2014), a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and defining Jewish American voice.
Despite attending Catholic school as a child—it was right next door to her Jewish family’s Philadelphia home—she became one of the most important Jewish literary figures of her time, known for her precision, wit, and deep connection to the natural world.
