The new JPNStudio logo brings together several symbols deeply connected to Japanese culture and craftsmanship.
At the center is the bear, inspired by traditional Ainu and northern Japanese imagery, representing strength, resilience, wisdom, and a close connection to nature. Surrounding the bear are two salmon, symbols of perseverance and the natural cycle of return and renewal, themes often celebrated in Japanese art and folklore.
Inside the form sits the name JPNStudio2023, blending modern creativity with traditional inspiration. Beneath the logo is the Japanese concept Shu Ha Ri (守破離), a philosophy of mastery and artistic growth. It describes the journey of learning: first following tradition (Shu), then breaking away to experiment (Ha), and finally creating something truly original (Ri).
Together, the logo reflects what JPNStudio stands for: respecting traditional Japanese art and culture while building a new, modern platform inspired by it. It represents the balance between preservation, learning, and creative evolution.
The logo was illustrated by Daji, an artist from the historic Dadaocheng district in Taipei, Taiwan.
Inspired by the temples, alleyways, and everyday characters of the city, his work blends memory, street culture, and playful storytelling into a unique visual style.
With bold shapes and sticker-like imagery, Daji creates art that feels both deeply rooted in tradition and unmistakably modern, making his style a natural fit for the spirit of JPNStudio.
