Extreme weather events urgently demand innovative solutions!
The Collection Systems & Stormwater Conference brings together the people responsible for keeping water moving, safely and sustainably, through our communities. From collection system operators and engineers to #stormwater managers, regulators, and solution providers, this event is where the practical realities of wet weather, aging infrastructure, and climate-driven risk meet real-world solutions.
Early Bird registration through May 29! Register at link in bio.
#RBTT2026 attendees enjoyed a special WEF-presented screening of "Unless Something Goes Terribly Wrong," a documentary film that follows the dedicated water operations team led by Dustin Price at Portland Water District.
Producer Justin Levy shared his impression as someone who knew little about the #watersector before this project: water operations is a complicated world shepherded by passionate, big-hearted, dedicated professionals. #WEFcommunity
Coming to #WEFTEC2026? Catch a special screening in New Orleans September 27th! And thank you to the production team and utility professionals who made this such a successful project.
Poor surface preparation is one of the biggest risks to coating performance - accounting for up to 80% of adhesion failures.
Join us May 20 for a webcast focused on how to get it right, from method selection to long-term system performance.
In this session, Steve Roetter and Heather Stinger of Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine will walk through how proper concrete surface preparation directly impacts coating life and reliability.
You’ll learn how to:
• Identify and compare common surface preparation methods for concrete
• Evaluate how substrate conditions and environmental factors influence method selection
• Estimate expected coating system service life after repairs

#RBTT2026 is the place to be!
From detailed sessions to hands-on conversations on the show floor, water experts are comparing approaches, sharing what works, and talking through real challenges facing their facilities.
You can sense how the #watersector is a uniquely open, generous community that 'goes all in' on its stewardship of public and environmental health!
Connect with Jacobs at the WEF Residuals, Biosolids and Treatment Technology Conference in #KansasCity! #RBTT2026
From enhanced anaerobic digestion using the Microbial Hydrolysis Process (MHP) to emissions reduction and hybrid digital twins, the Jacobs team will discuss the latest innovations in water resource recovery. Learn more: https://ow.ly/UF7t50YYgnX
"If you are in this room today, I full-heartedly believe that you are an innovation leader, an innovation catalyst, or an emerging leader. All of you matter equally in this equation. Each one of you have a role to play in our success." – Rasha Maal-Bared, WEF Board of Trustees
That message set the tone for an inspiring Opening General Session at #RBTT2026.
We heard from Per Henrik Nielsen, who reinforced the importance of innovation in water utility management. His message was clear: progress depends on collaboration, and our ability to connect with one another directly strengthens how we care for and steward water.
We took time to honor the legacy of Dr. James Barnard, known by many as the Father of Biological Nutrient Removal, as a mentor, and as a friend.
This is an industry built on people who show up for each other with shared purpose, humor, and a deep commitment to public service through clean water. There is a generosity of spirit in how knowledge is shared and how we support those who are still learning and growing. #WEFcommunity #Watersector
"This is really the place to go to get a deep dive in all things biosolids - from the basics to what the future holds for us - and to really meet the best practitioners in the business. And create a community for yourself!" Natalie Sierra, Brown & Caldwell and RBTT Program Committee Member.
#RBTT2026 is off to a great start in #KansasCity! Today's workshops focused on anaerobic digestion, thermal drying, utility data transformation and more.
A through-line? Reduce! Recover! Regenerate! The #WEFcommunity is leading the way to the #CircularWaterEconomy.
Last week in Arlington, VA, the Water Leadership Institute came to life!
More than 80 emerging leaders from across the water sector came together for two days of learning, collaboration, and connection. From operations to communications, engineering to finance, the diversity of perspectives made one thing clear: the future of water is in strong, capable hands.
Participants tackled real challenges tied to the #CircularWaterEconomy, but they didn’t just talk about their ideal city… they built it, turning serious planning into creative energy (and a few Lego masterpieces along the way).
These are the relationships that will shape careers and drive impact for years to come.

"My time on the Board of Trustees at WEF has been a highlight of my water career being able to serve with those caring professionals and work alongside our WEF staff. The envisioning and implementation of strategic initiatives for all water professionals and our water sector has been inspiring and very rewarding. I encourage all those with knowledge of these initiatives and of our water sector to apply for Board of Trustee positions." Keith Hobson, WEF President
WEF Board of Trustees applications are now open!
As WEF advances a bold Strategic Plan to better serve the water community and strengthen human and environmental well‑being, we are seeking nominees for two Trustees, a Vice President, and a Treasurer to help guide the organization forward.
Applications are open through May 22, 2026, with interviews scheduled for mid‑June.

"Operators Challenge is one of the things that keeps more operators around for me, as a supervisor, than any other tool I have."
The #WaterWorkforce conversation happening at #WEFMAX is serious! WEF Member Associations make recruitment to the sector a priority, levering existing programs, direct outreach, and (most of all) our #WEFcommunity members to develop the next generation of #WaterLeaders.
Thank you Pennsylvania Water Environment Association for hosting in #Pittsburgh!
