Solo travel can seem scarier than it is so I always recommend starting off in a city as they tend to be built up and easier to navigate (more transport, more people, more walkable)
Safety is a big factor for women and I quantify that by a place I feel I can walk around without fear and these are exactly that! The perfect places to get the solo travel train going.
Some are more expensive than others but all of these places have lots to see and do, which keeps you occupied if you feel you might be bored alone. I personally love my own company but I understand the worry that people have about being bored.
And the best part is, you can do things at your own pace! Whether that’s in the hotel spa all day or sightseeing, it’s all at your time, you eat what you want, see what you want and enjoy the holiday exactly how you want!

✈️ These three hacks are sure to enhance solo travelling or travel on a budget.
🛍️ 1) DUTY FREE BAG: so often when travelling on a budget, baggage limitations are huge. One thing I always do is bring those extra jumpers, jackets, spare pair of trainers or whatever that is in a tote bag, and once in the airport, buy a bottle of water/snack in Duty Free. MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR A BAG. Then, chuck the extra bits into the Duty Free bag. I’ve done this atleast 20 times and not once been challenged.
🛌 2) PLANE PILLOW: alternatively, removing the stuffing of a travel pillow and replacing it with the overflow of clothes is another great trick to get those extra holiday bits with you.
🔌 3) MAG-SAFE CHARGER: Now this one might seem rogue BUT I cannot stress the amount of times I’ve been away and water gets into the charging port and then you cannot charge your phone. This happened just recently on a solo trip to Estonia and I was just about to head out. A magnetic charger is now a must-pack for every trip for me, so you never run out of juice. (Make sure your phone has the wireless charging capability before grabbing).
