Up next as one of our vocalist guest judges for Shine On Halsted, it’s Kynzie DelGato! Kynzie DelGato is a lifelong singer who grew up immersed in music, honing her skills and passion from a young age. She works as one of Chicago’s singing bartenders at @rabbitholechi in Old Town, belting out hits while mixing drinks and hosting lively karaoke sessions! Her talent shone brightest when she entered her first competition and won the inaugural of Mic Drop at Fantasy Nightclub Chicago. Shine On Halsted begins Monday, April 6th 9pm at @progressbarchi . ✨Mic Drop S1 Champion✨ Not only did I finally push myself to enter my first competition, but I am honored to be the debut winner of Mic Drop! There’s a lot of firsts with this post: first competition, first win, first wig, first photoshoot. All things I found extremely intimidating, but ultimately, I never felt more comfortable stepping out of my comfort zone. As a kid, I used to BLAST music as loud as I could in my bedroom just to practice belting. I used to think playing the music loud would prevent my parents from hearing me practicing, but now I know damn well it was just loud on top of loud for them, but they never once stopped me. I can’t thank them enough for that and for everything they do. I also will never be able to find the words to thank all the people who are in my life who choose to support me. It’s not just about performing for me, one way or another everyone reading this post, has taught me to believe in myself and be proud of myself. I know that little girl in Texas would be FLOORED if she knew that we were singing in Chicago! Finale #2 - Dog Days are Over • • Tonight, I was announced the winner for the first time. My heart is overflowing with emotions. This win isn’t just about placing first—it’s about every single moment that led me here: the endless hours practicing in my room when no one was listening, the nerves that almost kept me from auditioning, the doubts that whispered I wasn’t good enough, and the unwavering belief from my coach and friends who never let me give up. Singing has always been my way of pouring out my soul, of turning pain into something beautiful. To hear that my voice touched the judges and the audience enough to earn this… it feels like validation for every vulnerable note I’ve ever sung. Thank you to everyone who cheered me on, who wiped my tears, and who reminded me that I matter. This win is ours! I’m crying happy tears tonight, grateful beyond measure. Semi-Finals: Musical Theater/Broadway week! • • • This is a song I have sung for as long as I can remember, using my hairbrush as a microphone in my childhood bedroom. Last night, I finally got to perform it for real and it was surreal. So many things in life have prevented me from pushing myself to just do the damn thing, and I’m so proud to have made it to the finale. This is an unforgettable experience, and I get to share it with some of the best people I’ve ever met! I know little me would be watching with pride, this one’s for you, kid❤️ • • P.
