On May 17th, we're playing our debut show at @talleyrandmcr , Manchester. Apart from our collaborative work MUD, WATER, OIL, is an audiovisual work that explores found sound objects and liquids associated with the industrial era, focusing on the often-overlooked sounds they produce. The work is also interactive, inviting the audience to become part of the creative process. @weatherissues is going to perform his massive solo work: HARBINGER, pitting time and memory against the loop pedal. Musical gestures layer on top of each other until the original elements cease to be heard at all, undergoing slow transformation into a soundworld entirely distinct from the one first present. @llkatherinelll 's spiritual work TIN LING LING DEI LING LING reimagines Hong Kong’s WWII-era Nam Koo Terrace ghost myth as a sonic ritual of bowls, rice, guzheng and live electronics. It unfolds between life and death, where spirits wander and resist disappearance. Pay-what-you-can tickets out now. Link in bio. #experimentalmusic #manchesterlivemusic #contemporarymusic

Last Friday, I performed with MUON at The Old Church. Proceeds went towards replacing the venue's Victorian plumbing. If you have any spare change, please consider donating via the link in my bio. This community space of nearly 500 years will have to shut their doors if it goes without restoration. It was fantastic to test some new objects for prepared violin with a top-flight group of musicians. A lot of my practice in the last few months has been centred around rope in live performance from conceptual perspectives on objectification, persona, and affect theory. Using it with purely sonic curiosity this evening was a breath of fresh air. Our MCYO collaborative work 'In the engine of its throat' is out now on YouTube, and I thought I'd share some snaps from its nascent period five months ago. An enormous thank you to @mcyopera and @contactmcr for facilitating the space to develop this work. Our Artistic Directors, Nina Whiteman and Richard Strivens, were generous in their time, their efforts and their continuous feedback to get us from nothing to performance-ready in ten days. The role their support played in making this piece cannot be understated. Everyone's creative process is different, and discovering a shared mode of practice was perhaps the most essential challenge of this collaboration. From Luz Blanco Santos' experience in DJ'ing and the dramatic arts to Seth Connor-Fullwood's poetic background, we had an incredible range of art forms to draw on for this project. I was luckiest of all to find a kindred spirit in Katherine Lee @llkatherinelll -- it is so rare to find someone who implicitly understands and trusts you artistically. Designing and improvising this soundworld together was exhilarating. I'm thrilled to perform again as a duo at the Talleyrand this April.  Well done to everyone who took part this year with the MCYO! You can watch 'In the engine of its throat' at the link in my bio.
