This week, LOTUS was proud to deliver the fourth edition of Spain Talks 2026 in London, in collaboration with the Spanish Tourist Office (UK), sponsored by @viveandalucia and @visitgrancanaria Bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and innovators from the UK and Spanish travel sectors, this year’s edition felt particularly special, as it was the first time it took place at the Spanish Embassy ( @spaininuk ), with the support of H.E. Ambassador Emma Aparici Vázquez de Parga - the first woman to hold the post since Catherine of Aragon. Key discussions focused on the role of data and AI, tourism taxes and evolving governance models, exploring the overarching conference theme “A Destination Blueprint for Improved Tourism Management.” Some highlights came from our keynote speakers Dr Xavier Font, who challenged how destinations need to be precise about what sustainable tourism actually means with accountable leadership, and @adeadepitan who shared a deeply personal story on overcoming adversity through sport and travel. Special thanks to our moderators, @simon_calder and @greentraveller Richard Hammond, to @wanderlustmag Lyn Hughes and @ttgmedia Daniel Pearce, to all the speakers and sponsors and to @jessica.harvey.taylor and the other media award judges Thomas Power ( @pura_aventura_uk ), Carol Rose ( @abtalovetravel ) and Joanna Reeve ( @intrepidtravel ). Finally, congratulations to all those recognised at the Spain Talks Media Awards! #spaintalks2026

ad This island is only 40 mins from London! ✈️ I flew 40 minutes from London City Airport just to eat at these places. I’m in the Islands of Guernsey who have officially announced The Big Eat Guernsey, a bi-annual food festival happening every April and October with over 40 food events including restaurants like… WHERE TO EAT IN THE ISLANDS OF GUERNSEY: 🌸 @Fukku_gsy started as a small Japanese izakaya in an arcade and has since been recognised in 2025’s Michelin Guide. 🌸 @Lola.gsy Filipino breakfast dish chicken silog at Lola, an all day brunch spot. The monkfish tempura is excellent too. 🌸 @RossoGuernsey for wood-fired Neapolitan pizza and pasta. Their ricotta, blue cheese, radicchio and pear salad is a must too. 🌸 A tour around @TheGuernseyDairy is a must to see how their world famous butter, milk and ice cream are made and enjoyed locally across the island. Remember to do a taste test of their ice creams too. 🌸 Stay at the 4* @TheFermainValley hotel that sits across 6 acres of land, a gorgeous seaview with a fantastic breakfast of locally sourced ingredients. They also have onsite restaurants including Buho for Mexican food. 🌸 @Christies_Guernsey for upscale grills and seafood with a view of the harbour. And if that isn’t enough, there will be special set menus from restaurants like these at The Big Eat Guernsey using the best of the island’s produce including their world-famous dairy and seafood. Flights are less than an hour from London and I miss the Islands of Guernsey already! #ThatIslandFeeling #Guernsey #FoodFestival #TheBigEatGuernsey #channelislands

ad Why aren’t more people talking about this place?! It’s a 40 minute flight from London and then a direct 35-50 minute ferry over. @visitguernsey and the neighbouring islands are beautiful all year round but I especially recommend visiting during shoulder season. You’ll still get the warm weather, no crowds and it won’t overwhelm the locals as much as the summer months. Me and my sister went on a few hikes and had these panoramic views to ourselves! @sark_island is one of the most overlooked islands in Europe. You can walk from one side of the island to the other in 2 hours. It’s known for their local seafood and has over 40 miles of unspoilt coastline, hidden beaches, secret sea caves and coves for swimming, diving and water sports. And there’s no need for car hire. In fact, cars are actually banned here so you can get around by cycling, walking or the occasional horse-drawn carriage. There’s also this tractor bus called the “toast rack” that can collect you from the harbour into town. And if you’re into star gazing, it’s also the world’s first designated Dark Sky island. You’ll find cottages and wooden signs written in English or French and the layout of this island has remained unchanged since the Tudors but… this isn’t in the UK and it isn’t in France. This is the Isle of Sark. #guernsey #channelislands #europetravel #travel #islandlife
