Thank you for showing up for our community. ✊🏾
Our April Black Neighborhood Tenant Council gathering was full of connection and conversation. From our “Thrive or Survive” icebreaker to the stories shared in the room, we were reminded that even when our paths look different, there is shared wisdom in what we’ve carried and power in what we’re building together.
Huge thank you to Councilmember Tunua Thrash-Ntuk for joining us and breaking down how the City works, what’s happening with housing, and how we can show up and advocate for ourselves. The conversation didn’t stop there. Folks asked tough questions, heard each other’s experiences, and started connecting the dots between what we’re living and what needs to change.
Shout out to Chef J of @gorielagrub and his 🔥 Caribbean tacos.
This is what it looks like when community comes together with purpose.
If you’ve been thinking about pulling up, come through next time. We meet on the last Tuesday of each month.

Firefighters should not have to do more with less.
After years of being under-resourced, our fire department is facing growing demand, longer response times, and the threat of deeper cuts like station closures.
Block the Cuts and Build Long Beach invests in fire safety and emergency response so first responders have the staff, equipment, and infrastructure they need to protect our communities.

It’s MAY DAY! 📢 LAANE Action Fund community organizer Deonna Knowles fired up the crowd at the Long Beach May Day march and rally! Thanks to everyone who showed up, marched, and signed the petition to BLOCK THE CUTS & BUILD LONG BEACH! ✍️
We had a powerful time talking with neighbors about @blockcutsbuildlb at the most recent #FourthFridayLB
Here’s how the measure works: Most residents would not pay this tax.
- Renters do not pay
- Homeowners earning under $250,000 are exempt
- Large commercial properties and industries pay their fair share
The measure creates a stable, permanent funding source to protect essential city services and invest in housing, emergency response, and infrastructure while ensuring strong community oversight of how funds are spent.
