Some reunions are worth the wait. 🧡 Last weekend, 200+ alumni from 37 countries came back to CEU Vienna for our Alumni Reunion. Three days of reconnecting, reminiscing, and remembering what makes this community so special. Professional sessions, campus tours, candid conversations about CEU’s future, an Alumni Ball with our students, and yes, a ride on a historic Viennese tram. 🚃 To everyone who made it back: thank you. You are what makes CEU, CEU. #CEUAlumni #AlumniReunion #CEU35 #Vienna

In Vienna, our volunteers came together for the second phase of the CareKit Initiative - assembling and preparing CareKits for distribution to people experiencing homelessness across the city. Thanks to the incredible dedication of our team and the generosity of the Central European University community, we were able to prepare 150 CareKits, far surpassing our original goal. During the session, we were also grateful to welcome representatives from Caritas Austria, who spoke with the volunteers about our joint distribution program and shared valuable guidance on how to approach onsite volunteering with respect, empathy, and dignity. In the coming weeks, our volunteers will be on the ground across Vienna - not only distributing CareKits, but also helping prepare and serve hot meals to people in need. A huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, as well as everyone who donated and supported this important cause!💙 Photo credit: CEU / Elena Azzalini

15 research stations. One unforgettable evening. 🌙 Two weeks ago, we opened our doors for the Long Night of Research 2026 — and you showed up with curiosity and a lot of great questions. Across 15 interactive research stations, our faculty, researchers, and students brought their work to life from environmental science to philosophy through hands-on experiments, demos, and conversations that made research feel exactly like what it is: exciting and for everyone. Young scientists in the making? We had them covered too. 👧🔭 To everyone who visited, thank you for making research night so worth it! Wiener Töchtertag at CEU 👩‍🔬✨ We welcomed a group of young participants to our KiKo Lab @kinderkognition_ceu to explore the world of child cognition research on April 23. From exploring how we study babies’ minds to trying methods like eye-tracking and EEG, the day offered a hands-on look at research. Over lunch, the girls connected with our team and asked their questions. To wrap up, they even created their own research ideas with putting their new knowledge into practice. We’re proud to support initiatives that encourage girls to explore fields where women are still underrepresented 🙌 #CEU #CognitiveScience #WienerTochtertag

For Lodoe Gyatso (CEU Alumni Chapter Leader - New York), it’s a powerful reminder of resilience, unity and the ability to adapt in times of change. It’s also a call to keep pushing forward by championing democracy, human rights and open societies when they are needed most. As part of our 35 Years, 35 Voices series, Gyatso shares why institutions like CEU need to keep growing — and keep preparing the next generation to take on today’s global challenges. #CEU35

Ideas of dignity, history and justice took center stage at the second event of our 35th Anniversary Presidential Lecture Series 👏 On April 16, Lea Ypi joined us at Weltmuseum Vienna to deliver her lecture, “Dignity and Historical Injustice: The History of an Albanian Family.” Drawing on her latest work, Ypi explored the moral and political dimensions of dignity through the story of a woman navigating life from Ottoman Salonica to post-war communist Albania, offering a powerful reflection on surveillance, memory, and lived experience. Thank you everyone involved and for the participation! Read more about the event on our website! #CEU35
