Community support matters because it turns possibility into impact. 💙 Yes, government funding helps sustain nonprofit programs, but it doesn’t cover everything. Gifts and donations allow BCS to respond to community needs with care, flexibility, and innovation. From food distributions and after-school programs to education, disability services, and workforce development, your gift could help us go further for Brooklyn families. Don't forget: every dollar makes a difference.

✨ BCS STAFF SPOTLIGHT! ✨ This month, we shine a spotlight on Nahshon Outten, a teacher at PS 156. Mr. Outten has been with BCS for three years and is an asset to both his fellow teachers and the students they serve. What lesson does Mr. Outten hope to leave with his students? “One lesson that I hope my students carry with them is the importance of the who, the what, the where, the when, and the why (5 W's). Information is important, and I hope, if nothing else, they think about this long after they leave my classroom.” Thank you, Nahshon, for the incredible work you’re doing at PS 156, and to all the teachers who work so hard to make sure our students are prepared for the future. At BCS, you’re always appreciated.

This week, we’re proud to celebrate the Clubhouse Week of Action—a nationwide effort highlighting the power of the Clubhouse Model in supporting mental health recovery and building stronger communities. At BCS’s Greater Heights Clubhouse, this work comes to life every day. Through connection, purpose, and shared responsibility, members are supported in building routines, developing skills, and creating a sense of belonging. As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded that recovery is not something anyone should navigate alone; it's a community effort. 💙

We’re just a few short weeks away from our 160th Anniversary Gala… and we’re excited to share that Emmy Award-winning reporter Phil Taitt will be making a comeback as our host for the evening 🎉 From waking up with New York City each morning on Eyewitness News to showing up for young people across our communities, Phil brings the kind of energy that will make this evening memorable. Phil isn’t just hosting our Gala, he's also one of our incredible partners. We recently partnered with his organization, Dream, Reach, Inspire, at the Career Sparks Summit, where students from across NY and NJ were encouraged to embrace a CEO mindset and step confidently into their futures. We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with him and all of you. 📸 : @rjartistry

This April, the sun felt a little warmer, the smiles felt a bit brighter, and our Food for Families distro's thrived as we celebrated the milestone of providing our 10,000th bag of farm-fresh groceries. 10,000 doesn't even feel real, but we are excited for the next 10,000 bags we'll provide, because access to quality food is essential. Thank you to @brooklynsupportedagriculture for helping us hit this huge milestone. Swipe to the end to see May's distro schedule so you don't miss your free bag! 💙

10,000!!! That’s how many bags of fresh produce we’ve shared with Brooklynites through our Food for Families program. 10,000 meals. 10,000 grocery trips saved. 10,000 moments where fresh food made it to the table. And we can't wait to give away 10,000 more!
