Anthology I - Michaela ‘Traps’ Sinclair is a trans sex worker trying to get by in Vancouver while also mentoring her recently-out friend Adeline and making an attempt at pursuing actual motherhood. Meanwhile, lowly production assistant Turner finds himself dangerously spiraling into inceldom as his current relationship implodes. Anthology II - In a trans separatist cult called the Polygon Angels, Circle lives in a New York basement, subsisting on ketamine, therapy-speak, and the comfort of never facing the outside world. When Circle tries to leave, she’s pulled between the cult’s suffocating safety and a crass “ex-nonbinary” woman named Keller who offers escape—at a cost. While there is interplay between each part, they are largely narratively stand-alone. Weard explodes contemporary ideas of filmmaking, gender, and social politics while leading with love in tandem with her awe-inspiring indiscretions. There is stuff in here you’d never imagine would make you cry. We are beyond excited to share this magnetic postmodern opus with you. It’s incredibly moving to see Reece get her flowers. She’s a star. I’ve still got tears in my eyes. I’m so proud & honoured to be in the company of such astounding films.
