We really want to give a special shoutout to the band for this event.
This was their first time playing live for a street dance battle, and also our first time trying a Live Band + Battle format.
To be honest, at the beginning, none of us really knew how it was going to turn out.
But maybe that’s exactly what made it meaningful.
We went through two in-person meetings,
and countless online discussions,
slowly figuring out how music and dance could connect.
How to shape the groove for dancers,
when to hold back and when to push,
what kind of rhythm could really move the crowd.
There were no clear answers at the start.
Everything was built through trying, adjusting, and trusting each other.
And in the end, when the music started,
when the dancers and the band began to respond to each other—
you could feel that it was all worth it.
This wasn’t just a battle.
It felt like a real connection between music, dance, and community.
A big thank you as well to J9
@made.by.j9 for connecting us with the band and making this collaboration possible.
Special thanks to Ifan,
@ifan.koentjoro our sound engineer, for ensuring the event ran smoothly.
And of course, huge thanks to our live band: Sydney Fusion Jazz Jam
@sydneyfusionjazzjam
They’ve been active across Sydney’s music scene, performing at festivals, events, and venues, and this time brought a completely new experience to the dance floor.
