We are excited to share 2 episodes of the Spatial Design Podcast – a pedagogical experiment created in collaboration with second-year Spatial Design students (2024-2025) as part of the Major Theory Spatial Design course.
This initiative, led by Ivo Vrouwe and Arvand Pourabbasi, explores how podcasting can serve as an active research tool, helping students engage critically with spatial issues and share their insights publicly.
In this first edition, 47 students worked in six groups to produce two episodes:
· Episode 1 examines the challenges of housing through three key lenses: Community, Creativity, and Transformation.
· Episode 2 explores the concept of Third Place, considering it from the perspectives of Social Issues, Public Spaces, and Inclusivity.
Each group structured their research using the Why? How? What? framework, which also shaped the podcast recordings. The episodes are divided into three segments, each approximately five minutes long, addressing these fundamental questions in a structured and accessible way.
Join us as we navigate these critical spatial design topics, offering fresh perspectives from the next generation of designers. Link in bio! 📡📡📡
