Safety reminder as we head into this beautiful weekend:
Water temperatures are still dangerously cold despite the warmer air temperatures. Lake Champlain is only 45° and submerging yourself in water that cold can make it hard to move or breathe almost immediately.
Wearing a life jacket could save your life if you're boating or kayaking. Gusty southerly winds will create choppy conditions on the lake at times. With all the recent rain, rivers are running very high and fast, so swimming holes are particularly dangerous right now.
Same goes for next week when it's even hotter out! Water takes much longer to warm up than air.
