This weekend I’ll be doing my first Comic Convention at HeroesCon (@heroesonline ) in Charlotte, North Carolina. I’ll be bringing Frankie Midnight issue 1 & 2 with interior art by @dlauer68 letters and book design by @kris_mehaffey and edited by @illusclaire as well as the short story Beyond Blood drawn by my good friend @chrillustration both written by your friendly neighborhood dj! Thanks so much to everyone who helped make these books possible, it means a lot. Anyone who has expressed interest or already got a copy, I appreciate it and I should have more copies coming after the Convention. Bobby was the first person that was recommended to me, which honestly I am flattered that people want to see more of this. So, thanks Ant for the recommendation.
I met Bobby at The Bull, and like last time I met someone there, the clouds were moving in. Thankfully I am actually capable of learning from past mistakes and we went outside to catch some of the sun before it left us. Now about ten minutes before we started talking, my tripod, with my camera decided it was a great time to stop working, and fell over onto the lens striking the pavement. This of course was while my back was turned. Mind you this is also the same lens that just a few short days beforehand got damaged because the bag I was carrying decided to break on me. Shockingly enough, it does still seem to be working. This all of course had nothing to do with Bobby, but I say it more to paint a picture of the day I was having.
So I was finally able to sit down with Bobby and learn a bit about him. While he has been DJing since he was a teenager he also has been in some metal bands as a lead singer. While he is another UF graduate. What I found really interesting was his work as a comic book author. He has several published works. Go to his Instagram and his linktree its great stuff.
Sadly the weather was coming in and we didn’t really have time to get deeper into his style. Even though it was a short conversation I was happy to have met him and look forward to getting out to one of his sets.
