We are happy to share some stats from the map. Thanks to the support of our community, the platform has been expanding continuously, setting the ground for future cross border collaborations. Co-funded by the European Union. Last month during coldest winter we were in Vienna and met @torisnest a DJ, promoter and journalist who gave us some insights in the local scene, his collective @lituation_events and the best option for a fresh affordable and healthy drink in Austria’s capital.

Independent and grassroots collectives and promoters face serious challenges. A lack of venues and financial insecurity make it hard for nightlife to exist, especially for non commercial events. We had a chat about this last month in Belgrade and came to some good ideas for the future. Thanks to @biancaintensa @mozdalaura @filip_vlahek @mionvmikv for the inspiring exchange as well as @sutra.club for the organisation and @kcgrad for hosting us ! Let us know your thoughts on this.

a new way to find creative communities this is a guide on how to use @wavmap_ WAVMAP is a digital platform for the independent electronic music scene. WAVMAP encourages DJs, producers, promoters, labels and curators from all over Europe to find like-minded individuals and collectives to exchange, co-create and collaborate. what if there was a map? independent artists, djs, promoters, light operators designers and other creatives navigate this scene the same way they always have - word of mouth, luck, knowing the right person. there’s an info gap nobody bothered to close until now @wavmap_ - a community-built map of the independent european underground - 70 cities, 22 countries, 350+ profiles. the scene mapping itself comment “map” and i’ll send it directly collaboration with wavmap.org

What’s new on the map ? We are now more than 340 users in WAVMAP, generating even more potential for cross-city and cross-border collaboration in the independent electronic music scene. Je suis content de collaborer avec WAVMAP pour parler de ce projet né de l’initiative de Commune de Nuit. Il y a un réel problème dans l’industrie musicale, et aussi chez ceux qui parlent sans cesse de scène et de communauté. Tant que personne ne décidera de s’organiser et de se mobiliser concrètement pour créer des alternatives, rien ne changera. Ce projet mérite clairement d’être mis en valeur, car il est réellement intéressant. Il faut aussi souligner son angle politique, qui est tout aussi important que la possibilité de se connecter avec d’autres personnes en Europe. Allez faire un tour sur le site. There is a real problem in the music industry and also among those constantly talking about scene and community. As long as no one decides to actually organize and mobilize to build concrete alternatives, nothing will change. That’s why this project deserves real attention.
